2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl - Jan. 3rd

Does anybody really think Clemson is in the picture for Boyd? I heard the NBC commentator mention that they were making a push for Boyd, I do realize that this was from a NBC reporter who, as we all know is not that well informed on this matter.

So, over the past couple months, lots of talk from recruits and analysts about Oregon being a player for several top-notch prospects because the program is up-and-coming, the facilities are incredible, the area is beautiful, etc., etc., and still no actual commits. Par for the course.

1. NBC has a contract for all Notre Dame home games. Why would you not think they'd be pimping for the Irish?

2. The most watched Notre Dame games of this and most other years are with Michigan and USC. Again, why would NBC not pimp the product?

I don't want to dump on a kid too much for what amounts to a glorified exhibition game, but if McCarron is 'Bama's QB of the future, then they're in trouble. Unless, of course, they recruit some wide receivers who are 15 feet tall and 11 feet wide.

Scout $ - 1/3 - Campbell ends the charade and recommits to UM... photo gallery.

Army AA game thoughts:

Justin Turner gave up a half dozen passes or so, one for a TD. Also missed a few tackles on the perimeter. Still will be a good player for UM.

Jeremy Gallon was fairly quiet, letting a few punts bounce. He had a nice sliding catch over the middle (from Boyd?) for about 25 yards as two DBs sandwiched him. Served as a FG holder for UM kicker Gibbons.

William Campbell made a few plays in the backfield, but was fairly quiet and a bit laid back out there. Seems to play similar to past big DTs at UM. May end up at OL.

Former verbals:

Kevin Newsome was an excellent runner but mediocre passer, an undeveloped/poor man's Michael Robinson.
Bryce McNeal was pretty quiet.

Was I hearing things or did the commit to North Carolina say that Boyd was going to Ohio State when they were showing the two seated on the bench?

Boyd is easily the best of the QB's on the field today. Hope he's wearing scarlet and gray next year.

:osu:

I think you were hearing things. I just rewatched it and it seems like he was just celebrating UNC and saying "1-0 now" or something, whatever that means. Boyd then began introducing some Virginia players, looked down the bench to Bell and said, "There's Dorian Bell, #1 linebacker." (Bell's jersey # was "1" for the game.)

That's what I got from that scene after watching it a few times, anyhow.

Seemed like he was naming kids from that region...

Watch for Boyd to make bignite jump on the recruiting boards, much like Mike Adams did after the game a couple years ago...
he's already a 5-star on scout, not sure he'll climb too far (maybe a little in the top 100 list).

Rivals has him as the #3 dual threat but a 4-star.
