2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

And remarkably - for this team reported to be devoid of defensive talent - of their 49 current offers (per Scout) 18 are to RBs and WRs and only two are for LBs.

Clearly they are getting ready to run a 3-4.

Within his short history as the play caller, he's done both.

Shaun King - Tulane (RR - Offensive Coordinator)

  • 1997: 199/363 (54.8%) for 2577 yards and 24 TD vs. 14 INT. 124 carries for 511 yards and 5 TD.
  • 1998: 244/364 (67.0%) for 3495 yards and 38 TD vs. 6 INT. 156 carries for 633 yards and 11 TD.
And when he got an athletic qb that didn't have as good an arm, such as Pat White, he did run the ball more. If you look at the actual ratio of pass to run in the "pat white" era, every year they threw more as White grew as a passer. There's more evidence to suggest that RR will adapt his offense to the skills of the qb WITHIN HIS SYSTEM. Meaning, that UM may throw more with Forcier while still keeping the read option as the basis for which the offense runs. If Forcier is as good a passer as they say, I'd look for the UM offense to more resemble Tulane under King. However, there is always Denard Robinson, the speedster from Florida. He ran a 10.28 100 meter at an event this past weekend. If he can pick up a decent amount of the offense this summer, I'd look for him to get plenty of playing time.
Then why did he run Mallet off? Mallet seemed like a perfect QB to run a wide open passing spread type offense.

$BeaverBabble

Can anybody with access decipher just WTF this means? He makes posts like this all the time and in the end they're just longwinded stream of conciousness crap that have no real meaning. Tom Beaver is the Seinfeld of scout. There's a 50.1% chance he looks like George Costanza.

I haven't read it... but, I'm pretty sure it means UM is in great shape with 80-100 recruits, all of whom are the greatest thing since sliced bread, except for the ones who'll end up somewhere else, who will of course then be revealed to be no big deal for losing out on. Unless, they initially loose out, and then end up back in the fold... in which case they're really a great prospect.

Oh.. and Ohio State cheats.

U-M QB update: Forcier called 'slippery,' Robinson runs 10.28 | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
The oral commitment of Inkster quarterback Devin Gardner for 2010 reinforces what coach Rich Rodriguez keeps saying: There will be constant competition at every position, even quarterback. If Forcier or Robinson establishes himself this fall, Rodriguez may still throw the 2010 recruits into the mix, just to see if there is something better. But Gardner would be talented enough to play another position if it came to that.

...Except defensive tackle, because it's hard for one guy to compete with himself. Then again, there will be open gladiatorial combat between those 31 slot receivers.

You can lock the cast of queer eye for the straight guy in a room and have them fight to the death, it doesn't mean the winner is neccessarily tough. He's just the toughest queen.

Mallet ran himself off. Rumor was that Mallet was gone anyway, regardless of who the hire was. Apparently he was homesick, which is why he's back playing at home. Mallet was looking for the perfect excuse to skip town, and RR was it.
