2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Offer extended to instate (Detroit) DB Mylan Hicks.

scout$

Offer list includes MSU, Vandy, Central & Eastern Michigan and Toledo.

He says he does not have a favorite, but will "consider m*ch*g*n". With that offer list, he will "consider" them. That um offer doesn't mean what it once did, does it? In fairness, also hearing from ND, 'Bama and Wiscy, but seems to just shrug off the offer. There was a time when instate kids coveted a um offer.

Oh, and Morgan Trent is a perfect example of someone with good speed who should've been kept on the bench.
Where did you get the idea that :slappy: should have stayed on the bench? I found his performances in the Game truely inspiring. His ability to overrun a play twice will no doubt revolutionize how DB is played. One day when Michigan find a a db so fast he can overrun a play three times we will all remember the original.

Your basing that claim on what again....
The fact that this is a Buckeye site? In seriousness, Saine is a terrific athlete with tremendous track speed that had all of us salivating his frosh year. Along the way he has suffered some injuries and gotten lost in the shuffle. He also doesn't look nearly as fast with pads on. I've seen Denard's film and while he does show excellent athletic ability, I don't see his speed as "otherworldly" as that track time would indicate. Some people don't lose much, if anything, with pads on (Ginn comes to mind), some do (Saine and from his film Robinson). We'll see. I think he could be a nice player for you guys, but I don't know about all the slobbering going on over him on um boards. We were guilty of the same thing with Saine, and many of you guys were saying the same thing about Justin Feagin last year at this time and we all know how that has turned out thus far.

I think Robinson is very dynamic, and if I had to bet, he's the starter and the one who shows promise. if he outperforms Tate early on, with only August to learn the playbook, that competition is over.

Would be interesting to see what happened if that scenario would indeed play out. I don't see Tater and his handlers as being the types that would handle him being on the bench very well. I do see a noticeable shift amongst their fanbase from Tater to Robinson since his apparent struggles this spring. The savior talk around him has calmed down considerably. Some of this may be the mania sourrounding the Gardner commit (savior #3).

Appreicate the post wasnt trying to call you out or anything. IMO the offense denard ran in high school really didnt get to show off his whole skill set, he was under center more often than not. The kid had offers from Florida,Miami,Georgia just to name a few I think that says alot about him as a player and that probably is one of the main reason Michigan fans are slobbering over him. He produced in high school and he has the offers to back it up. I also never understood the feagin hype, he played for a small 2a school and people were expecting him to start on opening day.

Weren't a majority of those offers as a DB though? His recruitment parrallels Pat White's in that sense IMO. He may well end up being a steal, but he looks pretty raw to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems DickRod is going more for his Tulane/Clemson offense under Tater. Seems like Denard would require a shift back to his much more run heavy spread-option wvu offense. Very different schemes in many ways.

Florida wanted him as a qb Meyer and Loeffler told him he was their number 1 guy for 09. Magee and Rich seem to differ on what qb they want running this system. Magee seems to prefer a running qb ala Pat White, hes been telling people not to sleep on Denard when he comes in. Rod wants a qb that can do both and it seems like Forcier is his guy.
