Talkin' About Practice (Michigan football practice): Sept. 23 - AnnArbor.com
A sign of the defense this week: Safety Mike Williams was in a red no-contact jersey and was barely noticed during the media viewing time in practice. Jordan Kovacs filled in for the dinged up Californian.
Not Vlad Emilien or JT Turner, the two hot names this offseason. Of course the later barely enrolled in time, but it's still worth noting. Kovacs is a nice story but not really a hidden gem.
When the offense started working in group drills with a center and tackles, Perry Dorrestein worked with the first team on the drills, which could lead to an earlier mention by Rodriguez that Dorrestein might get the start Saturday, moving Mark Huyge inside to right guard.
Although Rodriguez said Brown will start Saturday, Brandon Minor appeared to be practicing fully Wednesday.

And now for the bizarre and/or creepy additions to the blog (many appearing early in the article)
During stretching, the team was doing somewhat of an odd stretching drill - at least one I hadn't seen before - where the team crawled on their hands and feet, arched up and then jumped down.
youtube?
Rodriguez was also getting into the stretching act, doing standing calf stretches at midfield while his team also stretched out.
As music was playing, quarterback Tate Forcier began playing with running back Carlos Brown's hands, waving them in the air in an effort to get the senior to dance. He didn't seem to bite.
Also during stretching and while music was playing, defensive end Dominique Ware informed one of the assistant coaches that the music playing was, in fact, Tupac.
Unless he was singing live, I'm missing the significance.

U-M bans purses, bags at football stadium

ANN ARBOR - The University of Michigan said it's banning purses, diaper bags and all other bags of any size from Michigan Stadium as a security measure.

The school said it will require the "written permission of a medical professional" before allowing bags of any kind into the stadium for Saturday's game against Indiana University. Binoculars will be allowed, provided they are not in a case. Non-pocket seat cushions, cell phones and clear, sealed water bottles also will be permitted. Any permitted items brought to the stadium are subject to search.

A recent arrest in Colorado related to a terrorism investigation has touched off national warnings.

Michigan State University is playing Saturday at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., and there was no immediate word about similar measures being taken at Camp Randall Stadium.

No word on if DBAGS are going to be banned, but if they are, Michigan will have to forfeit....

I always new the pig house was a shit hole. Now, it may be more than figurative.

GMAFB.

I wonder if you'd still need a medical professional to write the paper IF the infant/toddler* is in the person's arms.

*not that we want that community reproducing or anything.

Vlad has had some issues with swelling in his knee in fall camp that kind of set him back a little bit.

As far as JT Turner goes, well first of all he's playing CB not safety, and secondly Turner is a little bit behind because of his issues qualifying.

I think both will wind up playing more down the road as the season goes on because we obviously lack depth in the secondary.

I understand that, I was just commenting on the two hyped names coming into the season, despite the knee injury and turner not eligible yet (
It always baffled me at the absolute confidence in some quarters that jt would be playing when he got to um, same with witty).

As for Turner's position, he could certainly play safety, and um needs him there far more. They have a good #1 corner, a #2 with potential. Meanwhile they have mediocre talent and execution at safety. If he arrived in june, I think he might have taken some reps at safety.

I still think um leads comfortably in the 4th, by about 14.

What we learned in the Big Ten: Week 4 - Big Ten - ESPN

5. Michigan's defense has major issues -- Tate The Great showed up again in the fourth quarter Saturday to secure a 4-0 start for Michigan, which continues to pile up points. But if the Wolverines continue to play defense like they did against Indiana and for most of the game against Notre Dame, they won't be undefeated for long. Youth, size and depth are hurting Greg Robinson's defense right now, and things need to get fixed as Michigan hits the road for the first time and faces better competition in October.
