2009 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Help me out here, 3 or 4 months ago we thought we had only 16 or so ships to give in '08, and 25 to give in '09. Now with a possible 4 juniors going pro this year we can use those ships in '08 instead of '09. My point is, if we use those 4 ships this year and sign 20 instead of 16 aren't we down to 21 for '09?

We will likely have more than 20 available this year...

If spots for additions to the '08 class are provided by underclassmen transfers, then the spots available for '09 should remain the same, all else equal. If they are provided by NFL declarations, then next year's class will shrink, not by the number of declarees, but by how many additional prospects we sign (Pryor, Jenkins....). I hope this makes sense.

Wow grad, we got scooped on that one...

As grad and I were talking about, would love to see this kid without pads to get a good look at his frame. But love the film...especially on defense. Shows good natural instincts to go with a nasty streak...

PREFACE: I think we are saying the same thing...but let me explain a little further just to make sure...and by the way, this is purely hypothetical...

If Boone and Gholston, who are a part of the 24, leave early and open up two spots for '08 that is two less spots that will be available when the 24 (now 22) graduate...thus reducing the number of scholarships available in '09. At the same time, anyone who is a part of the 19 players in the class after that that leaves early next year would bring that number back up...to where we are guessing it will be around 23-25...

That's pretty much dead-on. :)

Just a guess and I don't want to speculate as to specific names, but I bet half of the transfers would be guys who were going to be seniors next year. So, if we fill those spots with guys this year then the number next year actually would go down. So, I think we go into next season with 21 or so for sure but that number would then go up with guys leaving early (Chris Wells) and the couple inevitable transfers. 23-25 sounds like the number.

Edit: just saw that Wad said the same thing but said it better.

With Homan in and possibly as a FB prospect, I'm guessing the staff will monitor Adam's progression physically and in his game before making a decision on Marrow. If Homan is looking more like a defensive prospect, I say Marrow gets the offer. Otherwise it looks like Marrow could get left out (I see Marrow as a FB prospect all the way).
