Since Boren is not a schollie I didn't think he counted - and if he did I thought he would be considered in terms of the 2006 class.
At least now my 2+2=5 post makes sense.
Even if Boren "doesn't count as a scholly" he is still going to be here in 2009. That is somebody who will be a starting guard for at least one, and possibly two years. So having him in the fold could hurt Watt's recruitment. From everything I know, Boren is a guard along with Watt. Since Hall is a tackle, I can see Boren, on top of the seven (counting Hall) other OL already commited over the past two years could affect Watt's decision.
But, however, as long as he thinks he is better than Linsley, I don't think depth chart is that big of a concern. .. Here is my take on the last two OL classes ...
LT - Mike Adams, Sam Longo - Adams could be starter until he declares
RT - J.B. Shugarts, Marcus Hall - It's a toss-up on who would start first Hall or Shugarts, I think Hall has a legit shot.l
OG - Justin Boren, Corey Linsley, Chris Watt - Boren will start, Linsely or Watt could be No. 2.
C - Michael Brewster, Zach Mewhort - I guess Mewhort could move to guard if he can't lock up the C position. I also guess the same can be said about Brewster, but all indications point to Brewster being a stud at C.
The only reservation I see is that Watt thinks that Boren, Linsley and Mewhort are all guards and he doesn't want to compete with three players (counting Mewhort) in a two-year class.
But if Watt was as good as his rankings indicate, he shouldn't worry about that depth chart I just posted.
