2009 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Well, that was fun.

Now what do we recruiting junkies do for the next 6 months?

1. We will vent our anger and criticize the recruiting $ervice$ who elevate underdeserving, nonverbaled players above OSU recruits.

2. Our prayer life will be stifled because we won't have that passionate concern that the weather will be relatively pleasant during the winter weekend official trips of those we absolutely must have to close out this class.

3. We will angst over 2010, and why JT can't close like he did in 2009.

Actually answering in all *seriousness we should be prepared for an unending stream of rumors from other schools's fans & "insiders" about alleged interest from Ohio State recruits and their possible reneging on their commitments in order to pursue said schools.

*To be honest the "making fun of Penn State" answer was serious but much like Pinky & the Brain it's the same thing we (should) do every day.

Basically what I'm thinking..............

Yanked scholarship offer peeves SoCal prep coach: The Register-Guard, Eugene, Ore.

Interesting story about a recruit and Oregon. Oregon offers kid, kid accepts, Oregon says "Whoops, too many offers out, we're rescinding your offer." Now High School (St Bonaventure in California) wants nothing to do with Oregon.

Just a cautionary tale. Not particularly applicable to the OSU situation, but I get nervous with all the offers outstanding and talent that we might still yet land.

I know, I know, trust the coaches...

St Bonaventure in California
not a smart bridge to burn.
According to Therrien, Ramos received a written scholarship offer from Oregon last week, then called UO coaches to accept it. But on Monday, Therrien said, UO associate head coach and offensive line coach Steve Greatwood, who is responsible for recruiting the region that includes Saint Bonaventure, called Therrien and rescinded the offer.
Commit immediately or it may be gone, oh you did? Well, we don't have room for you anymore.

I don't see a very fair comparison to OSU, other than the ultimatum. All of those still deciding have been sitting on the osu offers for a long time.

Again, I agree. It's really not a similar situation to OSU, I'm just a nervous one, that's all. I have every confidence that the coaching staff is doing everything right (and we have absolutely zero reason think that they're not). Just nervous - not accustomed to seeing spots go this fast.

I'd hate to see the ship come in on Hall, Berry, Adams, McGee, Emilien, Banks, and Watt...and fall short on scholarships. Admittedly, that's a pretty far fetched scenario and all of those guys have been sitting on offers for a while now. Still, missing out on top tier talent would be unfortunate.
