2009 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Aside from the obvious slight of our boy Johnny, the actions of Rivals, whom I want to respect above all the other recruiting sources(other than here), have compelled me to comment on how they have elevated, in the new 100, USC's '09 recruiting class to 4-5stars!! Why and how and from what basis do they do this? As good as we are rolling...and I believe that we are almost like a runaway train at this point, USC, without bringing in even 1 new recruit in practically a month, moved even further in front of us despite what we have done the last few days! How can this be?

A little venting:

I live in SoCal, as a lot of good Buckeye-folk on this board do, and I see and hear the media that surrounds Trojan football ad nauseam; but I can live w/that. I don't mind Trojan fans, hardcore cans, they are as good as any of us. I add that I fully respect that the Trojans and the Bruins, situated within 20 miles of each other(sort of like us having scUM right there in Columbus with us), have to compete for fans and fan dollar support not only against each other, but have to compete for the local entertainment dollar in the entertainment capital of the world, not to mention the outdoor lifestyle and weather capitals as well. They also have to compete spiritually against a constant barrage of people(fans) from many, many other cities from all over the US and around the world(like me who come in rooting for Reds, Indians, Bengals, Browns, Cavs, etc), most of which don't all of a sudden switch allegiance just because they re-locate. It's tough, its gotta be tough...and I respect what they(the schools and fan support) are up against.

But, the so-called national sports media, (which includes our dear boy Herbie), some of which originates here and supposedly is unbiased, unabashedly supports, caters and pampers USC and UCLA beyond the boundaries of decency, and is so biased and prejudiced for them, to them and about them...it turns my stomach and makes me despise them more than I do....tsun, which is not what I really want to feel.

Well at this point we have 6 from that list and they have 5...They just have more 5 stars...

Honestly I haven't watched much of Barkley, but he is number 1 everywhere...Burfict is worthy of his 5 star ranking...I am not so sure on the Carrol and Hall...

Just for a little more info on this Scout has Carrol as the number 28 receiver...I know it is very early and he will be higher than that, but there is a little disconnect when one has him at the number 2 or 3 receiver, 5 star and one as a 3 star #28 receiver...Scout has Hall as the number 3 safety...

But Wood at 26 and Fellows at 29 just missed on their 5th star...

I have followed Barkley pretty close and he is easily a 5 star. I think he is top 5 in the country no doubt and the only player I would put him behind is Cierre Wood. The others I can't tell you. However, with the talent we have in Ohio to not have a 5 star this year is ridiculous. Also, Jenkins is definetly deserving of his 5 star status...maybe not the #10 player in the country but I always have been thoroughly impressed with him.

Ok, this is slightly off-topic, but was just perusing the SC galleries (seeing if I might be able to snag some pictures when out there this july), and came across this picture..

This is an '08 OL :yow1: (Tyron Smith) hadn't seen his pic before.

Jordan Hall not a top 250 player in the country???

Storm klein the #11 player in state???

Tom Wort at 228 is crazy...Watch his film and tell me if you think he should be in the top 100...

No Carradine in the top 250...

Offers from tOSU, UGA, Michigan, Florida, PSU, Va Tech, Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Oregon does equate to the #224 player in the country...especially a highly skilled cover corner...

Hawthorne should be top 100...

Brown ahead of McGee, Hunter, Givens, Jackson, Banks...

A kid that would hands down be a buckeye if we offered, but yet we have offers out to all those other guys...I trust our staff on a guy like that they have been able to evaluate for a year and a half now...

Now it is early and this will all change, and I honestly don't know all the kids on the list, and going off what I know, but overall I think the list is pretty weak...

Almost humorous this list. Simon the #7 player in the country? Putting Klein at #178 behind Chris Williams who has two MAC offers? All 3 of our commits get dropped and two of them significantly (Givens and Hall). This list is a joke.
