2009 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

I agree with everything said here...I think the problem is they don't really take into account what people around the state are saying and along those lines, they don't really have anyone that is strictly Ohio, midwest that does a good job of evaluating the players...

Scout has BobL, Greg Powers, and the guys from the ohiostate scout board...

I agree with this wholeheartedly...isn't Stever Hare primarily in charge of Ohio and the midwest? I'm not a mod but Terrelle doesn't effect the '09 recruiting rankings, so that would be best served in either the '08 rankings or the 2008 season discussions on our current team.

Couple things of note...

I know it is just one highlight film, but not sure I understand all the hype for Edwin Baker...#2 player in the midwest? Ahead of Simon, Campbell, Drummond, etc...

Don't get me wrong he looks like a very good back, but not 5 star type player IMO from watching the film...I would have him as number 5 player in the state of Michigan behind Campbell, Jackson, Sims, and Caper...

A friend of mine ranked the Michigan players like this...

Elite Prospects
1. DT William Campbell, Detroit Cass Tech High School (Michigan Verbal)
2. RB Edwin Baker, Oak Park High School (Michigan State Verbal)
3. WR James Jackson, Grand Ledge High School
4. LB Chris Norman, Detroit Renaissance High School (Michigan State Verbal)
5. RB Larry Caper, Battle Creek Central High School (Michigan State Verbal)
6. TE Dion Sims, Orchard Lake St. Mary's High School
Very, Very Good Prospects
7. QB Andrew Maxwell, Midland High School (Michigan State Verbal)
8. WR Cameron Gordon, Inkster High School
9. WR Donald Spencer, Ypsilanti High School (Michigan State Verbal)
10. TE Reid Fragel, Gross Pointe South High School
Good Prospects
11. DB Shamari Benton, Brother Rice High School
12. RB Teric Jones, Detroit Cass Tech High School
13. DT Aaron McCord, Detroit Crockett High School
14. RB Hersey Jackson, Allendale High School
15. DB Dana Dixon, Detroit Renaissance High School
If you want to go by offers, Norman, Jackson, and Baker are the top 3 in the state.

He attended the 5* academy and answered any questions about him being too undersized to be an elite DT by measuring in at 6'3" 274 lbs.

but he didn't do any drills or testing of any sort. the eyeball test doesn't do much for your ranking if you're from north of the mason-dixon line.

Just so I get this straight...They have the Ohio rankings...

Jamie Wood
Melvin Fellows
Marcus Hall
JT Turner
CJ Barnett
Chris Fields
John Simon

The same guy that the #1 scout in Ohio said might of been the best player in Ohio last year as a junior...Over a guy like Mike Adams...Once again this is a joke...

No McGee(offers from everyone, and the same guy that the fl varsity rivals site has as the 4th player in the state), Givens(offers from everyone), Jackson(The top WR on the staffs board, big time offers, great speed numbers), or Klein(could be a stretch, and a homer pick, but I think that he is a top 100 player) and I would put DJ Hunter in the top 100 but once agian that might be a homer pick...

KirkPatrick not in the top 10...

Drummond too low...

Te'o not in top 5...

Some of this might be splitting hairs, because i haven't seen everyone, but some of what I have seen and know about seems pretty bad...

Maybe so but his main knocks were not having a DT frame and his lateral quickness. He answered one of those and he drops 60 spots.

Piss poor...don't come down on me too hard but Wood is not the #26 player in the country imo. I think Simon is the best player in Ohio and cb40 hit most of what I would say. No McGee is downright stupid and the only justic done was Chris Watt's ranking and Melvin Fellows. I wonder how Fellows wasn't a "big mover" when he jumped over 100 spots to #29? Also, Justin Green isn't a top 100 player...maybe top 250 at best. Adams is too low.

What a joke, Simon is the best player in Ohio and I would put him up against any high school OL in the country and feel very confident. After watching the film of the DTs that Rivals has above him and seeing the 40 time and insane weight room numbers Simon has compared to the 10!! DTs Rivals feels are better then him I just lose a little more respect in the Rivals service. Simon is legit 5 star as we here know, and I hope he carries just a little chip on his shoulder this year when the cards take the field.

Doesn't impress on film...Isn't that the same thing they said about Adams last year...

Do they know what to look for??? Do they know he was hurt most of last season...Do they know that against Gateway he was the best player on the field, including 5 star LB Bell, LB Hale, WR Saddler, Ath McCarthy, LB Beachum, LB Zordich, and DE HIll...All at BCS schools...
