2009 Official Injury Thread

OSU getting healthier, or not?

Jim Tressel met with the media today for the final time before the USC game. It's always a chance to get the latest on any injured players...

-- WR DeVier Posey, limited last week by an ankle injury, is fine, Tressel said. That could be a big deal, as he was largely ineffective (2 catches, 14 yards) in about a quarter of play against Navy.

-- Reserve DBs Ohrian Johnson and Travis Howard will be back. That helps the depth situation a lot. They are the No. 4 safety and corner, respectively.

-- DT Dexter Larimore (sore legs from being cut-blocked last week) should be fine.

On the negative side:

-- Reserve safety Aaron Gant remains out, and had arthroscopic surgery this past week...not exactly sure what was scoped, but definitely lower body, so likely a knee. That normally is a 2-4 week injury.

-- Saw backup left tackle J.B. Shugarts with a boot on his right foot. It wasn't a big boot, like those walking cast things, but it definitely was something out of the ordinary, let's put it that way.

-- WR Taurian Washington has a brace on his right wrist.

I think Shugarts to RT is a good move, which is his natural position. I foresee Cordle battling with Browning for RG position when he comes back. With reports of Adams battling for playing time, I think it's time we see the entire Block-O in action.

:oh:

Sounds like we might have some major injury problems heading into the most important part of our schedule.
Pettrey's injury looked like he may be done with a knee injury to his kicking leg.
I haven't heard much about Boren, but we really are going to need him in there.

I heard that if we were playing PoSU yesterday, that Boren wouldve played. I think were in better shape than you might think. Big Dex will be back. Boom looks ready. Alot of people played, which allowed the starters to rest for almost a half.

Glad to hear it.
Adams is in fact out for the rest of the season, correct? IMO that is a big loss. Left tackle looks weak right now and we're going to get some major pressure these next 2 weeks, hope we can get something worked out there on the left side.
Dex coming back will be huge, RB's being healthy is a plus, and hopefully we can get Ben Buchannon (SP?) back if Aaron can't go.
