2009 NFL Draft (Mocks, Evaluation, etc.)

Outstanding that I switch on the draft for the first time today (4:50 p.m.) and I get to witness another USC kiss-fest by ESPN.

"If you want to go to the NFL, you go to USC." - Herman Edwards

Maybe NFL Network is better (I can't believe it would be worse).

Is he incorrect? They've built a helluva program and they are envied throughout America.

I think we've sent more than our fair share to the pro's too. USC is no doubt doing a great job of sending kids to the pro's. I haven't watched any ESPN so I don't know how bad it is but sometimes you get the feeling you're watching an infomercial for USC. The amount of coverage they get is overboard(Shelly Smith, anyone?).

OrgB - you are right. There is a saturation of coverage and the "programs of flyover states" get significantly less respect.

Heaven help us if the Northeast ever develops one or two excellent CFB programs. We will never hear the end of it and the fall will be worse than 100 Yankees/Redsox ALCS'

Do you remember when Boston College was #2 in the country in '07? There was two weeks of nothing but Northeast sports coverage. Matt Ryan and the Celtics were crammed down our throats.

To ESPiNs credit, I thought the Bill Cosby/ Quan Cosby bits were funny.
Bill asked Quan Cosby (Texas Wide Receiver) if he could be in his entourage. Despite the last name there is no relation. Quan is a great receiver, had some success against the Buckeyes. He?s rated as a sixth or seventh round pick.
The interview took place on a love seat. Erin Andrews sat in the middle of them, with Quan on one side and Bill on the other wearing a temple football uniform. Quan was a little uncomfortable, but having a good time. Bill had some funny lines about the process and Erin did a great job as the straight man(woman).

one of the best kickers I have ever seen is likely to go undrafted in Grahm Gano. Guy is absolutely money, and can punt too. Someone is going to pick up a 15 year veteran assuming he goes undrafted.

Alex Boone remains undrafted. Another great value, assuming he can stay off the sauce. Just think, he was projected late first, early second round pick after last season had he declared early. Now he is likely to be undrafted. Just poor decesion making.....

As usual, there are going to be some high-profile undrafted free-agents. I'm hopeful Cleveland is able to bring a few guys in due to the opportunities our current roster provides.....
