2009 NCAA Basketball Tournament

2007

1-3 #8 vs #9
4-0 #5 vs #12
===============
2006

3-1 #8 vs #9
2-2 #5 vs #12

Not that I'm that smart.. but I remember either reading
or listening to a clip that these seeds are often the danger slots

8 vs 9 is about 50% each way over the years, as would be expected. The 5-12 matchup, for whatever reason, is the oddity. On paper, the 5 should win a lot of the time, but at least one of them seems to bite the dust out of the gate every year.

If Louisville and Syracuse win tomorrow, the Big East would have 5 of the final 8 teams. I know the conference has a lot of teams, but to have 4 or 5 of the Elite 8 is awfully impressive.

All I care for is Louisville or North Carolina to lose. I don't think anyone wants to see all four #1 seeds make the Final 4 again

I did not see Mr. Ed Hightower officiating any of the Sweet 16 games and I was curious if I had missed Mr. Ed. I think you have to do Sweet 16 to do an Elite 8 or Final Four game but I might be wrong about that. Hopefully, times might be changing and coaches might be evaluating Mr. Ed as he officiates all games and not just the ones that they benefit from.

Sometime last night I realized that Ed hadn't done any games lately, and I also realized that I didn't have a major problem with any of the refs that have called the games the last couple of days.

If there was ever any doubt who the best player in this tourney is, Blake Griffin squashed that. That kid is a BEAST. I hope he gets to go up against and dominate Hansflopper and some point.
...and so it shall happen...

He would bitch-slap Hansflopper and make him buy him ice cream.

Nice to see Sparty giving a basketball lesson to idiots like Phelps and Davis.

"The Big Ten can't score."

Funny, looks like Louisville can't score. You don't suppose playing defense has something to do with scoring, do you?

Digger can't hear you. He's too busy color coordinating his tie and sharpie.

Apparently, Connecticut can't score, either.

I wonder how much ESPN pays these geniuses for their insight?

Hubert Davis actually changed his tune and picked Sparty to win today. Digger was his usual self earlier today.
