2009 NBA Trade Deadline

billmac91

Head Coach
Figured I would start a thread as the deadline is right around the corner.

I'm interested in who the Cavs might have interest in. Mike Miller, Chris Bosh, Vince Carter??

I can't wait to see how Steve Kerr continues to dismantle Phoenix in an effort to make them better. The guy just continues to gut the team in an effort to make them better, and he makes them worse, and gives away their future at the ame time. It's quite entertaining, and shocking that he has a job as an NBA GM.

Does Amare get traded?

Do the Knicks finally move Marbury? Do the Celtics improve their bench?

Can the Lakers make a move to solidy their frontcourt after Bynum went down....maybe another trade deadline robbery (Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol)?

Should be interesting.

God, I would love to see Bosh in a Cavs uniform...

My likely trade for Bosh would be Andy and JJ plus expiring contracts. Would you do the same for Amare if he's on the table? Of course the Cavs could have drafted Amare the year before Lebron rather than Wagner.

I know that Bosh is an extremely talented player but would you really give up Andy and JJ and expiring contracts for him. That seems to be awfully risky because what would happen if one of the bigs would get hurt. Z does not have the healthiest of feet and Ben is starting to get up there in years. I guess if you want to take the shot for this year a trade like that would be fine may be and down the road it would be scary.

I know to pick up a big name, you gotta give up some talent, but we need to keep at least one of Andy/JJ around...With the injury problems that Z and Big Ben have, and also going into the future it is not smart to risk the furture for one year, and also risk this year if injuries do strike...I think one of Andy/JJ can be expendable and one of Wally/Sasha can be expendable and then throw in maybe a first round pick, and Snow's contract and that looks fairly enticing to teams...They clean space, get a good young PF and a draft pick to build towards their future...

But only guys like Miller, Bosh, Amare are guys I do trades for...Not trade like last year, where we totally dismantle the team...Right now we have great chemistry so maybe a guy like bosh who we know gets along very well with LBJ is the best bet...

If the Cavs had drafted Amare they might not have got enough ping pong balls in the hopper to get LeBron.

I'm still a believer that the 2003 NBA Draft was fixed

If it was fixed, LBJ would be in Miami, Chicago or NY right now. :wink2:

If a big name is brought in, give me Bosh. He's one of the guys that has been mentioned being brought in alongside LeBron in 2010 and has a much better all around game than Amare. Amare is an exciting offensive player, but he doesn't know how to play a lick of defense and I'm not sure how well he would mesh with LBJ.

I seriously doubt any major move like that is made though. Then again, I didn't expect the Cavs to make any moves last year. We'll see.

You don't even need to throw Wright in on that trade IIRC. Snow/Andy works as well. They would have to at least throw in this years first round pick. I would love to get Bosh, but I don't see the Raptors trading him this year. I don't know much about Amare's game, but they could use his offense down low. Hopefully he could learn to play D like Mo did. Maybe team him with Ben and Z with Andy.
I'm really worried about the 2 right now, but I don't know who is available. I doubt the Cavs make any moves until West comes back. Once they have him and Kinsey they'll have enough depth that they could trade Wally if needed.

Of the forwards in the league who play 35+ minutes per game, STAT is 11th in the league in steals per game, 5th in blocks, and 8th in defensive rebounds. So it's not like he's a chump on defense.

With that being said, I think Bosh would be a better fit anyways. Stoudemire is a very me me me player. He wants to be the superstar somewhere (see Shawn Marion), but that won't happen with Shaq, Nash, and J-Rich stealing some of his spotlight. So that probably wouldn't be the ideal locker room atmosphere for a team trying to win a championship. I could definitely see him heading to New York though, but that's another conversation in itself.

Come on Cavs management, bring in a stud!
