When we finish the draft, I'm planning on compiling the past handful of drafts to look at what our draft-only rosters will look like. Obviously that's only part of the equation, but it will be a better way to look back on how we did.

Also, I think we'll definitely be able to get another draft in after the combine if folks are up for it.

With the 23rd pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the New England Patriots select...

Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

Atlanta is on the clock....

His injuries scared many scouts, and as I predicted, it kept him out of top 15 picks. When he’s 100 percent, he has more potential than a Ted Ginn Jr. With his kind of game-breaking speed, I thought he could sneak into the first round. It's really hard to find guys who can break a game open with one touch. Harvin can do that.

:slappy: Thought he might be a first rounder? Hilarious stuff, pretty.

Out of the University of Florida, we have a playmaker, an explosive entity in Percy Harvin, who changes that scoreboard with regularity. Great after the catch. Talk about a guy in the return game can help you. He has to answer some injury questions and durability questions at the pro level, not real big, takes a lot of hits but a talented player.

Top-10 ability, the only reason he was expected to slide was because of the durability concerns.

"Might be a first rounder"

Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew... he's the best tight end in this year's draft. Had Gresham come out he would have competed for that slot, but with Gresham returning to school, Pettigrew at his size.... I think he's the best blocking tight end in this year's class. Also a big receiver, a big target with very soft hands with the ability to stretch the seams. He's as close to the complete package at that position that scouts could find in this year's class.

Excellent value pick here by the Atlanta Falcons... I had him slotted at #11... building on their first round success from last year. Brandon Pettigrew, 6'6" 262 lbs. Catches the ball extremely well, but what makes Pettigrew so valuable is that he can block. An inline blocker, can help out that running game, multi-dimensional tight ends are hard to find these days. Brandon Pettigrew from Oklahoma State is exactly that, helping out Matt Ryan and that Atlanta Falcons offense.

Miami is estatic that Larry English fell to them towards the end of the first round. He is a perfect fit in the Miami 3-4 defense that needs another rush defender to take pressure off of Joey Porter on the other side. While Miami considered help at OG and WR, we feel that those needs could be met later in the draft while a premium pass rusher will be tougher to come by.
