CTV Olympics - Olympics to keep Canucks from home
nucks get a 14, fourteen game roadie as a result of the olympics.
VANCOUVER- The Vancouver Canucks' path to the Stanley Cup playoffs next season includes 41 away games, the same as every year.
Only it won't seem that way in the heart of hockey season, when the Canucks embark on an epic 14-game road trip. The NHL team will lose access to its home arena, General Motors Place, for the 2010 Winter Olympics, which will shut down the league for two weeks in late February.
But the Canucks will also go on extended road swings before an after the Olympic break. Vancouver has an eight-game sojourn heading into the respite, and a six-game trip after the Olympic interruption.
In all, the team will go more than six weeks between home games, leaving the facility on Jan. 27 and returning on March 13.
