2009-2010 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (6 straight Big Ten Titles)

Anybody - yes, especially Jantel or Sammy, but ANYONE - makes one more shot they usually hit and we're in overtime right now.

Yup. I thought Walker's foul trouble really hurt us tonight as well. She was playing a nice game in by the basket, especially when Jantel drew the coverage away. For whatever reason, Schulze just wasn't effective down low in this game where she usually comes up with a bunch of effort boards.

Oh, and ESPN? Jantel happens to be the two-time defending B10 player of the year and an All-American. Maybe try to learn how to pronounce her name next time around.

I agree, that any one of those players hitting just one more shot, but 9-31 from our big 2 certainly didn't help. I don't agree that ball reversals are just meant for Jantel, I look at it as an opportunity to keep moving the ball until any one of the five have a higher percentage shot than they were forcing up tonight. Of course the inside/outside is good logic, but when it's not being executed properly and poor decisions are made, this is the outcome. Purdue was amazing tonight with KK, she definitely put on a clinic at point. Rayburn came alive late in the game, I thought perhaps it appeared to reveal that Schultze is not quite 100% and not moving as well as before her injury. Another key factor - 39 bench pts from Purdue!

BL, don't take it wrong. I put part of the blame for the loss on coaching, he should have more control of the way the game was being played. Did I miss something, or was there any mention of why Little or Stokes were not put in the second half to bring fresh legs to defense, even for a short period of time?

The rotations were definitely different tonight. Lavender played all 40, probably in part due to Walker's fouls. She looked a step slower than usual at times. I'm not sure we had any helpful depth to bring off the bench in her case. As for Little, I'm guessing it was because Foster thought we needed offense on the floor, but in retrospect maybe she could have sparked some more energy.

The Ladies are off to a great start against Minnesota tonight. 31-15 7:47 to go - Buckeyes got out 10-0 to start. They're shooting 60% (12-20) and only Minny's hot hand (50%) on not-so-easy shots is keeping them in range.

Sammy on the bench for a rest with 9 points 6 assists and a steal
Jantel and Brittany (2 3s) have 6; Sarah 5, Tayler 2 and Maria a 3. They only have 2 turnovers (9 for GGs)

Sam is just smoking them. Now up to 15 points and 7 assists...and still 3:30 to go in the first half.

Sammy is on fire! 15 points and 9 assists, 0 turnovers 1 missed shot. Jantel is moving well and finishing often with some pretty slick moves inside. Brittany and Sarah have been much more aggressive, Tayler has looked good and the D has drawn 3 offensive fouls 47-24 with 2 min to go.

55-26 at the half. Prahalis now with 21 and 9. Minnesota is getting horse-whipped.

Minny is playing without one of their better players in China Antoine, but still....this isn't an awful basketball team.

55-26 at halftime! This is some bounce back performance. Sammy has 19 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal, is 7-9 from the floor, 3-3 on triples and perfect from the line. Jantel is playing very hard and is showing no effects from the bad ankle. She has 12 with 7 boards and a block.

Much more aggression shown on offense - Sarah, Brittany and Tayler have 8, 6 and 4 and are driving, running the floor and moving well without the ball.

Maria and Cherise both hit 3s off the bench and Shavelle, Andrea and Emilee all gave good minutes when they were in. The team only has 2 turnovers and is shooting 20-38 overall. They forced 10 turnovers and drew 3 offensive fouls from the Rodents are winning the board battle 20-16 and have 5 steals to 0 for Minny.

Let's see if they can approach this pace in the second half. :osu:

Scoring pace has slowed - but they're still diving for loose balls and playing hard. That's the lesson they had to learn and it looks to have taken.

Sammy has a double double with 21 and 10 assists and Jantel is close with 18 and 9.

Shavelle has played a really hard, aggressive game and has really been impressive tonight. Amber has been pretty aggressive on d too.

72-40, 7:47 to go. Lots of pulling and grabbing by Minny this half to slow things down and a few too many turnovers by OSU - but this is still the most solid performance they've had in a few weeks.

BTW - Purdue knocked off Penn St in OT tonight so they may be making their late season surge now.
