2009-2010 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (6 straight Big Ten Titles)

The inconsistency from 3pt range the last few games can clearly be attributed to lack of teamwork and selfish play. As of late, this team is showing no signs of helping out teammates by setting screens for perimeter shooters, or weak-side help in the post position. Lots of dribbling down the floor, putting up quick shots, not looking to get all players involved.

Watching Mich St, Purdue, Iowa, etc., they ALL set amazing screens for their perimeter threats, and we are very poor in that aspect. This team continues to miss early passes to allow fast breaks down the court, and continue taking selfish shots instead of making the extra pass to a teammate.

Johnson and Shultze need to be utilized in order to open up the inside for Lavender. Add Prahalis and the dynamics she brings to the game and this team has unbelieveable potential. :osu:

Today the Buckeyes travel to MSU to take on the 19th ranked Sparties at 2pm.
THe Sparties always give us an entertaining game and today's should be no different.
The game will be shown on WOSU and CBS.

I can't wait, don't get to see them very often. I'm on it today.

They finished the half on a bit of an up-note and trail 35-31. Sammy's penetration and shooting has kept them in the game, but Jantel seemed to get more comfortable the last few minutes and Brittany hit one three so hopefully they will be better from the floor in the second half. I thought they got some good looks but they didn't knock them down and overall seemed to be a little too passive in the halfcourt set.

MSU is close to 50% from the floor - let's hope they cool off a little. The Buckeyes could help themselves alot by keeping Sparty off the glass.

Weird - they kept OSU on in NY but cut to UConn in Ohio?

Here's the endgame:
63-62 Bucks 34 sec to go Isolation for Jantel on DeHann, drives and is fouled. Jantel makes 2 FTs, 65-62. MSU has only 2 3pters for the game and has missed their last 11 attempts. Timeout Sparty. Bucks go man to man. Keane misses a 3 for MSU scramble for the rebound Jantel called for a walk - very tough call. Shot clock is off with 11.8 seconds to go - last MSU timeout. Foster timeout after he gets a look at MSU's alignment. DeHaan takes a three off the rim, MSU rebound kick out for a three, Andrea blocks the shot ansd Sammy corrals it. Ballgame.

Turned it over too much and little point production from anyone except Sammy and Jantel - BUT the Buckeyes now have a three game lead on Sparty in the B10 and only Minnesota is within one loss. Big win.

"Prahalis scored 32 points while Lavender had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Buckeyes (17-1, 5-0), who are seeking a record sixth straight Big Ten regular season crown. Both Ohio State stars made clutch plays late to keep the Buckeyes alone in first place in the early conference race."

Let's see.......I believe that indicates 17 wins and 1 loss.

Oh yes,...... Baylor, a team that, I believe, is ranked ahead of us in the national polls, was waxed tonight by a very excellent Oklahoma State team that we beat by 19. The only other team good enough to beat Oklahoma State so far this season is....... Michigan State.

Congratulations ladies! Huge win for the Lady Buckeyes, the game was definitely won by the tremendous defensive effort played by all 5 players on the floor the last 3-4 minutes of the game. Prahalis was amazing, but as the season proceeds they still need to become the more balanced team they showed signs of a few games ago. They have the perimeter talent but need to watch the gamefilm from the OSU/MINN men's game yesterday! Minn schooled the OSU men the entire game by setting beautiful screens for their 3 pt shooters, which ultimately opened up every other aspect of their game. The girls need to take advantage of what they have and they will be extremely difficult to defend! :osu:

You are seeing a much different team than I am. I will grant you the fact that their record is extremely good but let's not forget about how Duke took them to school. They are in trouble when there is a player on the other team who can play Lavender one-on-one because Sammy certainly is not going to score 32 points every game. The other players on that team really need to start picking it up offensively or this team will be another Foster team that goes to the Big Ten in a Wednesday game in the NCAA and then get bounced. Outside shooting is a must in the women's game.

I agree with you that the ladies got schooled at Duke, but again, the reason I saw was lack of teamwork. Every team we play from this point on will have gameplans to slow down Lavender and Prahalis, and as long as Foster continues to make this a 2-person team wins may be more difficult to accomplish with each passing week.

I also agree that outside shooting is a must, but will never be successful on this team until the ladies take pride in setting screens and making it possible. After watching Big 10 games all weekend, both mens and womens, every single team except ours set screens to allow for very successful perimeter games. I've watched games here for over 15 years now, and still contend this is the most talented starting lineup yet. The talent is here, but without TEAMWORK will never be appreciated and seen at its best. :osu:
