2009-2010 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (6 straight Big Ten Titles)

Ohio State vs. Western Illinois

Game Preview
Ohio State vs. Western Illinois
Tuesday, December 22, 2009 3:00 AM

4 p.m. today
? Where: Value City Arena
? Streaming video (for a fee): BigTenNetwork.com
? Radio: WOSU-AM (820)
? Records: Ohio State 12-1; Western Illinois 4-7

? Matchup to watch: After stale beginnings against Alabama A&M and Wisconsin, this is all about how the Buckeyes start against the Leathernecks. Do they pressure the ball defense? Do they swing it on offense? Do they get out and run? Big Ten play is coming after Christmas.

? Notable: Western Illinois had an awful game Sunday against Loyola, losing 48-27 at home. The Leathernecks made 18 percent of their shots from the field. The Buckeyes trailed Alabama A&M 14-2 at the 15:12 mark of the first half on Saturday and didn't really put away the Bulldogs until late in the second half of the 78-54 win. Freshman guard Amber Stokes is out of the boot protecting a left foot injury but not cleared yet for full practice.
? Next: at Illinois, 8 p.m. Monday

Ten players in double - minutes.

Official attendance 2532.

Games like this don't exactly make it more attractive.

Just noticed, in their last game OSU shot 16% from 3-pt range. Today it was 53%.

Ohio State vs. Illinois

OSU-Illinois preview
Monday, December 28, 2009 3:02 AM

8 p.m. today
? Where: Assembly Hall, Champaign, Ill.
? Streaming video (for a fee): BigTenNetwork.com
? Radio: WOSU-AM (820)
? Records: Ohio State 13-1, 1-0 Big Ten; Illinois 8-2, 0-0

? Matchup to watch: Ohio State center Jantel Lavender, the two-time conference player of the year, meets her biggest inside rival in Illinois center Jenna Smith, a two-time all-Big Ten player. Lavender leads the conference in scoring at 22.4 points per game and is second in rebounding at 9.9. Smith is second in scoring at 21.5 and first in rebounding at 11.4. Both will get double-teamed.

? Notable: Illinois had a bye for the Dec. 6 conference games, so this is its Big Ten opener. The Illini brought aboard a top-5 recruiting class this season, but the numbers have dwindled. Destiny Williams is on a leave of absence from the team. Amber Moore suffered a torn ACL in her left knee and is out for the season. Brianna Jones has missed the past seven games with an Achilles injury. ... The Buckeyes are averaging 85.1 points. Illinois is giving up 55.7 points and 31.6 percent shooting from the field.

? Next: at Northwestern, 4 p.m., Thursday
