2008 tOSU Spring Game (4/19) & Practice Discussion

I am not gonna jump all over the kid, it was the Spring game after all, but I just went back and looked again and I guess we will disagree:biggrin:.

In my opinion, the ball needed to be five yards longer. If it was, Coleman wouldn't have had a play. The ball was underthrown and he had a bit more than a step. It is a characteristic of Todd's that bit us against good secondaries last year.

And like RB07 pointed out, although Hartline didn't have to slow up his gait, he definitely had to make a big change in his direction, otherwise the ball would have been behind him. If the ball had been thrown more to the inside, Coleman would NOT have been able to make a play on it.

Eh, guess we will have to agree to disagree. Pretty much every point has been brought up.

All this over a scrimmage?

Whoa QB controversy after a scrimmage LOL Ummm I'll pass on replacing the guy who got us to the national title game.

OsuCollegeBuck..........

If you want to get real , other teams ahead of us in the BCS polls/ standings landed us into the National Title game, by losing. There was also a reason Tressel took the ball out of his hands during the Michigan game last yr.

All I think alot of us is saying is Todd will have a short leash this yr. ( if his INT's keep increasing)

Yea, theres some good points made about TB. This was just a spring game. BUT he cant play like he did the last 3 games of last year. we all know this, i wanna see more of the double running back what they call it the 'pony'? formation? i think if u put beanie//saine or beanie//mowells (i know a lot of people think mo wells shouldnt be in) you can mix up the defense a lot with crazy options. Only problem is out O line has to be perfect for that; which i dont see being a problem when they all get healthy

If you think that you don't know this coach and haven't been watching how he operates. :shake:

There is an awful lot stupid stuff being posted on this thread.
Here are two facts you should learn to live with.

1. Todd is not Troy. There are alot of spoiled Buckeye fans out there.
2. Todd is the starter. He's a sixth year senior. Also he took us to a pretty big Bowl game last year.

Here we go again. :bonk: It's funny how people on this board tend to use a "what have you done for me lately" mentality. Todd B. has some things that he needs to work on. It's obvious that Joe B. and Henton have more than Todd to work on......hence the reason that they are the backups. It's easy to be an armchair qb and go back and watch taped TV broadcasts of games in a lame attempt to grade out Todd's performance. Obviously Tressel feels that Todd gives the Bucks the best chance to win.......and until someone else is listed as the #1 on the depth chart, I will trust that Todd is the best option at that position.

For those who think that Pryor is going to come in and beat out Todd B. next season, you need to get a reality check. There is NO way that Tressel will hand over the offense to a freshman who doesn't know the offense. You cannot pick up the offense in a month or two. Now, going into his sophomore campaign I think Pryor will be in great shape. The Bucks have the pieces for a title run next season. Todd B. has a year of experience, including playing in Ann Arbor and the National championship. He has the confidence of his teammates. He is a senior...... Enough said.

One other thing about Todd B. in the Michigan game last season. I'm just going to throw this one out there. Do you possibly think that weather could have played a factor in the game plan for that one?

Watching it over and over now, it just seems Boeckman threw a post pass, not a skinny post. Like you said, if the ball was more outside Coleman wouldn't have made the play.

But daddyphatsacks...who said Pryor was going to beat out Boeckman? I haven't seen anyone say that. Point is that Boeckman has the potential to be a great leader and QB this year if he makes good decisions. That means not throwing more INT's than TD's, keeping his composure in the pocket and not panicking for no reason, and throwing the ball away. Everyone wants to compare TB to Krenzel and that is the dumbest comparison I have seen. Krenzel constantly made plays with his feet (sometimes phenomenal), found the open man, made the big play when we absolutely needed it, took care of the ball, and threw it away when need be. The only comparison is that since the rest of our team is so good, we only need them to manage the game and make a play once in a great while. Krenzel did that and if TB can do that, he will be the starter. I am not crazy enough to want to declare Bauserman, Henton, or Pryor the starter yet but the fact is that if TB doesn't do what I said above, he won't be our QB. I think he will be the starter this year and do well but I'm just trying to be realistic.

Todd Boeckman - proving you always want to be the guy that follows the guy who follows the legend.

Or... I suppose you could just be Scott McMullen... Seems to me any number of fans thought he was far and away better than the guy who won 23 of his final 25 games at Ohio State.
