Big 12 haven't really played each other yet. That starts this weekend with OU/Texas and the upcoming 3 weeks all have a ton of Big 12 games between the top schools (OU, Texas, Mizzou, Kansas, Texas Tech). So they might beat each other up a whole lot.

Personally I think Big 12 is a very close 2nd to the SEC right now but SEC is king as long as the BCS records hold. I know Mizzou destroyed Arkansas and Michigan beat Florida but the SEC has won the NC two years in a row and you can't really argue with that.

This year will be different. B12 will knock off the SEC...then we'll have to see what happens next yr.

B10 mired in 3rd.

With Tigers 104th in offense, Franklin fired

Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin was fired Wednesday, six games into the season. The Tigers are 104th in the nation in total offense.

Head coach Tommy Tuberville told the Birmingham News that he will decided in the next day or so who will call the plays in the 20th-ranked Tigers' game Saturday against Arkansas. Tuberville said he will now take a bigger role in the Tigers' offense.

Tuberville was scheduled to meet with the team later Wednesday to tell them of the firing.

Tommy Tuberville ...

not Jim Tressel.

Thomas Tuberville is a shithead. Six games? What do you expect when you bring in a coordinator to implement an offense without the proper personnel? *Cough* scUM *Cough*. Tuberville is an overrated douchebag, Take away the one year where he struck gold, he's an underwhelming 69-34 at Auburn, 94-54 overall.

Franklin firing raises a lot of questions about Tuberville, Auburn
By Tony Barnhart | Thursday, October 9, 2008, 07:57 AM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tommy Tuberville said last night after practice that he fired offensive coordinator Tony Franklin on Wednesday simply for "a lack of production." No argument here. Auburn was ranked 104th nationally in total offense and had scored 3, 14, and 13 points in its last three games. So there is no question that the new attack under spread offense guru Franklin was not producing.

Last Saturday Auburn took a 13-0 lead by simply lining up in two tight ends and running the ball. Then Vanderbilt made a couple of adjustments and Auburn went back to its spread attack. The Tigers did not score again and had only four yards rushing in the second half, losing 14-13. After the game, media reports showed a confused and frustrated Auburn team.

Cont'd ...
This is embarrassing for a team just four years removed from an offense featuring Jason Campbell, Ronnie Brown, and Cadillac Williams.

I wonder if this starts the clock on Dave Clawson at Tennessee?

WVU adding LSU to football schedule

This grizzled press box occupant of four decades has been told by multiple sources with college football and telecast connections that WVU and LSU verbally have agreed to a home-and-home series for 2010 and 2011.

If the deal comes off as expected -- and ESPN has been involved as a go-between and interested telecast partner, as was the case with West Virginia's 2008 and '09 Colorado series -- the Mountaineers would visit imposing Tiger Stadium in 2010 and get a return game at Mountaineer Field the next season.

Could be a decent series for us.

Decent for LSU to kick the living crap out of the Mountaineers. If the Tigers don't win both games in that series I'll be surprised.

I do give LSU a thumbs up for scheduling this series no matter how good or bad WVU will be in a couple of years. If they are terrible will LSU still get a bunch of credit for scheduling them? The only reason I wonder that is I remember the backlash for OSU's "weak" schedule last year that included a game @Washington... a game that was scheduled when they were a good team. When these games between BCS conferences are scheduled its hard, if not impossible, to predict how good the teams will be when it comes time to play.

This has been a boon of a week for the unstoppable SEC. Auburn loses to a down WVU (they've lost to ECU and Colorado) on thursday...and Vanderbilt just lost to DUKE. The vandy team who's beat South Carolina, Mississippi, and Auburn just lost to Duke, 10 - 7. Fuck the SEC and fuck the media who says they have the best conference. Their like the rest of us, a few good teams, and the rest suck.
