It was announced today that Brendan Beal, UF linebacker, is the fifth Gator lost to an ACL injury since July.

Ouch. That's brutal.

It this just one of those freak things or is there something wrong with your turf?

Hate to hear that rash of ugly injuries. Beal had been somewhat underwhelming through spring ball, but you never like to see that happen to anyone.

I think we're over training the kids today. Every muscle is sculpted and every calorie counted to push the body beyond the brink of what it can do.

You never see a fat person at the grocery store blow out their ACL planting their foot and wheeling around to grab another box of Ho-Hos.

Richt has confirmed today that surgery will end Sturdivant's season.

Only thing that even remotely makes me feel bad for him is that he blew his ACL, MCL and PCL.

But he ended one of our guy's season last year with a dirty chop block well after the Mutt runner was past the line of scrimmage.

edit: OK, more of a clip than a chop as he was not engaged with another poodle at the time of contact.

Whether it's a chop or not, it was behind the play and clearly a low block (and arguably from behind). That's a pretty dirty block.

On the other hand, I hate to see a kid get hurt like that. I mean, he tore all three major ligaments in his knee. That's what they call a pretty goddamn catastrophic knee injury. This kid might never see the field again. Nobody will ever accuse me of being a Georgia apologist, but that's a damn shame.

CBS agrees to 15-year extension to carry SEC football, hoops

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference has agreed to a 15-year contract extension with CBS Sports to broadcast football and basketball games.

The agreement announced Thursday takes effect next year.

CBS will carry a football game of the week along with prime-time games and doubleheaders and continue to broadcast regular-season SEC basketball games.

The agreement also covers other platforms, including certain digital and Internet rights.

Georgia loses freshman LB White for season

ATHENS, Ga. (AP)?Georgia freshman Charles White will miss the season due to an Achilles? tendon injury that is cutting into the Bulldogs? depth at linebacker.

White, from Columbia, S.C., was expected to play on special teams and as a backup at linebacker, coach Mark Richt said. White sustained the injury on Thursday.
