2008 Preseason and Regular season Polls

The stupidity of the people who work at ESPiN never ceases to amaze me. Tom Luginbill believes an undefeated Ohio St. would get passed up by a 1 loss team(he actually used Oklahoma as an example of a 1 loss team that would get in ahead of us) for the NC game. It's dipshits galore in Bristol, Connecticut.

Lugheadbull is a Special Education flunk out. If we run the table (meaning that we had beat mighty USC on its own turf), there's no way in hell we're not in the NC game...

Let me save you money on that one. We are going to beat those ugly, wrinkled, drooling, flea ridden, poop rolling, mange infested leg humpers to within an inch of their miserable lives. We will beat them so badly that even their girlfriends, stuffed into their red and black K-Mart polyester stretch slacks and tops and riding home to Athens leaving a RedMan chewing tobacco stain on the passenger's side of their boyfriend's truck will know in their plankton sized brains that they witnessed the poodles receiving an ass whipping of Homeric proportions...although "Homeric" will not enter their brains at all.

I enjoyed the post so much Gatorubet, I went and found the exact fan you are talking about.

Matt Hayes of the Sporting News updates his post-spring practice Top 25, with Georgia #1, OSU #2 & USC #3. Includes the following note on OSU:

? Deal with it, people:
Ohio State is in the thick of the national title picture -- again. The Buckeyes replace four starters from last fall -- none at critical spots. The addition of uber-recruit QB Terrelle Pryor will give the offense balance, but more impressive is the attitude with which this team went back to work after a second-straight embarrassing loss in the national title game. The reality is this: No other team would've beaten Florida or LSU. The Bucks were the poor saps on the other sideline caught in the tidal wave of two teams with second chances and something to prove.

1. Georgia- Understandable; may be the best team but with that schedule could easily have three or four losses
2. USC- Another no brainer in the top 5. Has to play Ohio State early. May be a make or break game
3. Oklahoma- Can't complain with this one either. 10+ win team year in and year out with one of the best QB's in the country
4. Ohio State- Another no brainer top 5 team. Returns 18 (or is it 19?) starters on a team that went to the National Title game
5. Florida- Can't complain with a #5 ranking. We may have the best offense in the Nation but our defense is still unproven. We never really improved in that area all eyar last year, partly due to youth but also due to injuries (not making an excuse but facts are facts)
6. Missouri- If they play like they did last year then I have no complaints, I just don't see them doing that. They play @ Texas this year (which I think we be a Loss) and I also expect them to lose a few more games (like to Nebraska)
7. Clemson- They have a killer running game with Spiller and Davis and a good team if they can finally put it all together. With no real dominant team look for them to win the ACC
8. Texas- Texas is back. Well they never really went anywhere but expect great defense as usual and for them to be in every game and challenge for the Big 12 title and maybe even National Title if things go well
9. West Virginia- They return Pat White and should win the Big East rather easily
10. Arizona State- Should once again challenge USC for the Pac 10 title but don't expect them to win it
11. Wisconsin- Second best team in the Big 10. No more or less
12. LSU- Lose some key players but return RP. He has all the talent in the World but I just don't think he has what it takes for them to win the SEC. Should challenge for the west title, though
13. Texas Tech- Always one of the top offensive teams in the country but always struggle against the better teams. 10 wins is possible but not much else
14. Kansas- Like Missouri, show me you can do it more than once before I believe you belong in the pre season top 25.
15. Illinois- This is funny. I don't see them anywhere near the top 25. Zookers are going to disappoint if you truly believe they are a top 15 team
16. BYU- Been close the last two years to undefeated. This may be the year they do it. Best non BCS team in the Country
17. Tennessee- Have to disagree with them being the 17th best team in the country but they should be good enough for 8-9 wins and third in the East
18. USF- They started out last year great and kind of faded. But with Louisville losing BB, they should place second in the Big East
19. Auburn- Always a pain in the butt to us, Auburn should challenge LSU for the Sec West title..hope we face them in the SEC Championship game
20. Pittsburgh- Another Big East team that could surprise. I expect them to seriously challenge USF for second in the Big East. I just don't trust Wanstach as a coach yet
21. Florida State- This one made me laugh. 21st best team is Florida State? They have talent, that's for sure. But they also have 36 or so players suspended the first 3 games for cheating and everything else and terrible coaching
22. Penn State- Joe Pa has a talented team. They should win 8-10 games or so
23. Fresno State- One of the better Non BCS schools. 10 wins easily
24. Virginia Tech- I thought they would be higher than this. I could see anywhere from 7-10 wins.
25. Wake Forest- Should challenge for the ACC title but I still don't think they are a school that has learned to win year in and year out just yet. Doing it once is great but doing it all the time is a lot harder

I'm not sold on USC being a no brainer at #2,#3,#4 or #5. When a team loses 4 of their 5 Offensive lineman, their QB, tailback and TE, then I have to think they are going to struggle to be a top 5 team....I know, I know, It's USC and they are supposedly deep. But there is nothing quite like playing experience and when an offense is losing so much I think they will have a lot to prove. To say the least, it's not a no brainer. I think people are getting caught up in the USC hype.
I think of it in this way....tOSU is every bit the program that USC is. If we had lost Boone, Rehring, Person, Barton, Nichol, Wells and Boeckman on offense, would anyone be thinking of the Bucks as the #2 team in the nation? That's not even mentioning the loss of Sedrick Ellis, Lawrence Jackson, Kieth Rivers, Terrell Thomas and Thomas Williams on defense!

I know all of us, including the media want to see tOSU and USC ranked in the top two or three because of the early season matchup. It makes for great press....But I'm making my prediction now. Even being in California I think OSU wins by two TD's and Beanie Wells has a huge game.
USC is overrated.

Five teams moving ahead and five in reverse

Five in drive

Ohio State. We heard the same thing last year: The team has never been in better shape, never been more focused -- despite a championship game meltdown. It helps that super quarterback recruit Terrelle Pryor will give the offense a Tebow-like jolt in the fall -- and loosen up what could be a tight atmosphere.

Jeeze. They can't seem to give you a compliment without a backhand.:shake:
