Thats not really a great burn, gotta admit. If I were you, I'dve gone with, "The only phone book he could rip in half is the one listing the head coaches he's beaten in a big game!", or something like that. Something more personal does the trick, if you ask me.

Aren't close to 50% of all Heisman winners a joke? Jason White (over Larry Fitzgerald, no less), Eric Crouch, Danny Wuerful, Chris Wienke... I mean Gino Torretta beat out Marshall Faulk. I know, some of it is revisionist history, but Heisman bricks aren't an ND thing - its an everybody thing.

I'll be the one to say it though - I, and others, have gotten:topic:.

Thanks for the laugh!
Who wrote that? Weis?

The only phone book he could rip in half is the one listing all Notre Dame Heisman winners who actually deserved to win it!

Or the phone book that did not have his favorite take out restaurants listed in it.
No,somebody from the Observer wrote this ~ Joe Tuscano!! I don't know this one either I know quite a few people that work there. They have used some of my photography before.

Garrett is THE most important recruit on the board IMO... He and Josh Jenkins would be at the top for me... Pryor and Hale would be an added bonus, but not necessities because of our depth at those positions... Garrett is a must get...

IMO, whenever you have a chance to get the #1 recruit in the country(Pryor), that trumps positional needs. Don't misundersand, I want Goebel and think he's a great prospect. Just like the Block O lineman, a guy like Pryor could attract more great skill players in the future.

Not if you have a serious need, like DT right now...

Exactly... That was my point... Pryor is a luxury pick-up for me... It's TP or no one at QB for us in this class, and that's because of how QB looks (don't get me wrong, I want TP in this class most definitely)... If we don't land Goebel (by most accounts our top defensive target), we will scramble to find other DT's for this class...

Texas won the NC on the back of Vince Young. The absence of any particular DL would likely not have made the difference.

Troy Smith took us to the NC game last year. No particular defensive player - not even Lil Animal - had remotely his impact.

If Pryor is worthy of his ranking he is much more than a luxury.

If we have put ourselves in such a position of desperation on the DL that the #59 ranked player in the country is that critical - shame on us. But IMO we have not.

Even if Gholston leaves early we bring back 11 DL next year. Granted, only 4 of those will be underclassmen and we need to bring in some bodies (Gholston was a 3 star - rated the #39 DE prospect in the nation). But the single player who moves you from NC contender to NC champion is far more likely to be a QB than a DL.

The mystery to me is that we don't have a lot more offers out on DL right now - unless the staff views things differently than we do - or knows something we don't about some other names.

All that said, Goebel is my #2 behind Pryor.

I'm on 22's side...Garrett is a legit player at DT and we need DT's really bad, so I also believe he takes precedence over a player like TP. But let's just get both and not worry about it  I see your point Oh8 but Texas had a great DL and so did OSU this year. You certainly need a good DL and you need depth at the DL position.

Considering both Goebel and Pryor are unknowns on the collegiate level I would think you would go with the position of need.....Goebel.

I understand what you are saying and all, don't get me wrong. It's just hard for me to take your arguement too seriously when you are putting a high school kid that hasn't played his senior year up there with Vince Young and Troy Smith (even if you are just using them in the context of this arguement).

Obviously if Pryor lives up to potential he would be the bigger get because he would be playing a position of more importance IMO.
