Thank God for the spot of mild weather we're having, I hate flash frozen recruits.

cold spell this weekend:biggrin: Got to love Ohio weather! I don't think weather matters. They wouldn't have OSU on the list if they couldn't handle the weather.

I have high hopes for this weekend:osu:

Dayton Daily News: Ohio State's 2008 recruiting class looks strong

Also quotes Duane Long saying he'd be surprised if Devoe Torrence is in this class because of off-the-field incidents.

Ohio State's 2008 recruiting class looks strong

Buckeyes land three of the top seven offensive lineman in the nation.

By Doug Harris
Staff Writer

Sunday, January 13, 2008

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State has 17 verbal commitments among high school seniors so far and is assured of ending up with one of the nation's top recruiting classes ? with or without Terrelle Pryor.

The Buckeyes have landed seven top-100 prospects in the Scout.com ratings, matching Notre Dame for the most in the nation. They have perhaps only two more scholarships available, which will make for a relatively small class, but their average player rating is second-best nationally behind Southern Cal.

"It's a typically strong effort by the Buckeyes," said Allen Wallace, national recruiting editor for Scout.com and SuperPrep Magazine. "This looks like a real top-10 class, or even top-five, depending on what happens with people like Terrelle Pryor."

cont'd...

For all the focus on TP it is tough to look at the LSU game and not see that it was won in the trenches. This is a very important class for OSU with or without a QB.
Agreed - the heavier this class gets in men of the line (Josh Jenkins) the better.

it was won in the trenches

Credit Oh8ch for that one, and I couldn't agree more. If the guys up front are winning the battles, the difference makers, if a team has enough of them, should win the war. This particular recruiting class, and I will reserve comment until the names are faxed on February 6, could provide enough of a balance of both areas - skills and power.

I must have been in my cave, because with our lack of SEC speed, how could it have come down to the trenches.

Right on Oh8ch, I think anybody with sense knew that the NC game would be won or lost in the trenches (this obviously disqualifiies 99% of sportscasters)

tOSU lost because we lost the battle at the line of scrimmage (and made too many mistakes)

Having Shuggarts and Brewster already on campus and GG, Big MIke, Shaq, Williams on the way and maybe a couple more of JT Power recruits, this class will go a long way toward keeping the Bucks near the top of the rankings. The speedy skill guys are just icing on the cake, mmmmm icing

With Freeman and Jenkins coming back, as well as Dukes stating he hasn't looked at transfer options yet....i'm wondering where all of the scholarship offers are coming from?

Are people still comfortable about up to 6 transfers, because all of the juniors coming back certainly reduces the numbers we can throw around?

That's what I'm wondering...I know there will be some transfers but the Domicone and Martin offers/commits really surprised me. Have to wonder if anything is going on behind the scenes. I'd love to just stick with us getting all of Pryor, Jenkins, and Wells but when we offered Pentello last year, we got bombed from the AA game on. So really it's a little worrying just because of last year with the late offers but hopefully guys are just transferring out that we don't know about and has nothing to do with TP, JJ, or Wells.
