2008 Football Rumblings

That's what I meant Sushi. I don't know if I am old enough to use old age as as excuse? Anyway, if there is some truth to this story, hopefully it was some other Domicone.:)

There is a thread on Bucknuts' free board about this as well, though, in typical BN fashion, the thread quickly diverted from the topic at hand and yielded several idiotic responses. Nevertheless, one poster seems to have heard the same and said he tore his hammy while doing parachute sprints. TIFWIW, of course.

Just a brief tidbit or two:

Marcus Freeman has caught everyone's attention...slightly over 250 and is stronger and faster. Set up for a huge senior season and is going to get noted on some All-America teams. He very well could be one of the best pass defending LBs in the country next year.

Orhian Johnson and Travis Howard are two kids that could be the real surprises of the '08 class...maybe not right away but they will be big contributors eventually according to our well-informed source.

Clarke could be the guy in this class that fits that same label...could sneak up the depth chart quickly with a solid RS year. He reminds the staff a lot of a young Jenkins and was right at the top of their CB board with McGee.

Hard to imagine two better LB's in coverage than Freeman and Laurinaitis.

To add to this here are some exerts from a recent BSB:

Freeman ran a 2.03 in the "Flying 20" on May 15th. (JL ran a 1.99 and Gibson a 1.97).

JL commented with "My time was faster than Marcus, " with a grin.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Freeman ran a 3.96 on the shuttle run on May 19th.

"There have been four or five guys in the last four years who have been timed under four seconds in the shuttle run, and they all weigh 180 pounds, Lichter said."

....Freeman weighs 239.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last year Freeman set the team record on the hang clean with 405.

He set a NEW record of 420 on May 20th on his 3rd attempt.

"You may hear that there are guys doing 500 pound hang cleans around the country," Lichter said. "I'm not going to say if they are or they aren't. What I will say is I'll bet there are five guys in the country at the Division I level that are actually out on the field that can hang clean 420 pounds. I'll bet you could count them on one hand."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Marcus Freeman is our pound-for-pound most explosive player."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

...this was a GREAT article written by Adam Jardy called "Turning 'Real Work' Into Real Results. Licther leads Ohio State's Summer Program."

It was in the June 2008 edition of Buckeye Sports Bulletin.

Good to hear about Johnson and Howard. I fully expect Travis to a real good one. One person I am wondering about in all of this though...James Scott. I was extremely high on him when he came in and I really haven't heard much about him. One question on Clarke being at the top of the board though...does that include CJ Barnett?

He started on special teams as a true freshman...also saw some time in nickel packages IIRC.

Thats an interesting question. Personally, I would think since CJ got such an early offer, and Clarke's didnt come to much later ... that they probably had CJ higher. But maybe they wanted to get on the in-state guys first.

I took it in regard to who was left.
