2008 Football Rumblings

Bruce Hooley on 1460 here in Columbus reported the opposite of what is being reported to WyoBuckeye.

Hooley said on Thursday or Friday that the reports he was getting out of camp on Terrelle were "less than stellar" to use his words. He even went so far as to ask the question "do you think that TP could end up never playing a down as a QB?" Now, this was in keeping with their "BOLD STATEMENT" segment of the show, so who knows?

:roll1: Hooley's claim would contradict virtually every other report from camp...

Having listened to 1460 every day for years, I would bet money that Hooley doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. He is and always has been an Ohio State doubter, and will do or say anything to make waves.

as a former listener to 1460 (listened every day from 1997 till this past jan 7) i agree 1000000000% with this stement. hooley does not have a clue

That's what had me a little concerned (mind you that it's, what, two weeks into his freshman camp???). I would think that Hooley would have some insight into the practices as he covered them for the last 10 or so years. Maybe not?

I think it's very premature to be questioning Terrelle Pryor's abilities at QB. The kid isn't even half way finished with fall camp of his freshman year. I like Bruce at times, unfortunatley he has a tendacy to think with his mouth and not his brain.

i also think it's pretty hilarious that someone could suggest that pryor might never play a down as a QB after less than three weeks in college football practices. pryor is young and raw. anyone expecting him to come in and take command of this offense with almost no prep time is an idiot.

i wonder what he was saying about troy smith after he did a few snaps at RB

I think it's healthy to be a bit speculative on camp reports, especially when it comes to impressions on freshmen. It's good to know how guys are doing, but it helps to take a "lets see how it plays out on the field Aug. 30th" attitude. However, Hooley's comments are a bit much. C'mon. He'll never play a down as QB? After all the time and energy spent recruiting him - especially the opportunity cost of losing out on several other talented QB recruits?

PRYOR TO FOCUS ON MENS VOLLEYBALL YOU HEARD IT HEAR FIRST

but hooley knows hockey. i remember him flaming over the maxim mayorov pick saying who is this guy trading away multiple late picks for some russian.... bruce never got the memo that mayorov was a top 20 player if a transfer agreement was in place. oh yeah he complained about the steve mason pick to, i distinct remember his criticism over a kid who had hardly played....

:shake: hooley :shake:
