this is the thing I hate most about college baseball

Arkansas finishes under 500 in conference, doesnt make the conference tournament, but makes the NCAA tournament................

Shit look at Texas Southern...WTF!!!! 16-32 record and THEY make the tourney?!?!?!?!

Hell of a weekend at The Box!!
Other than the low/mid 90 degree heat yesterday.
It was GREAT to see the ole Stadium looking ans sounding like it has in years past. This is a magical run we're on right now, and I just hope it continues.

23 games ago, we were 11th in the SEC and were given very little chance to even qualify for post season play.

Now, we're hosting a Super Regional against UC-Irvine.

Here's to sending the Box out in style

Congrats Nutriaitch, good luck in Nebraska....

Thanks!!
a month and a half ago, I would have thought you was crazy if you told me we'd make it this far.
Un-believable turnaround. Great way to retire our old ballpark. over 8,100 in actual attendance last night.

There is some sort of wierd magic about this team this year.
From AMAZING plays on defense, to balls just "carrying" out of the yard off the bats of guys that never hit HRs. That foul ball that somehow was blown back fair in the SEC tourney.
Nick Pontiff (whose older brother, Wally, was on the '00 NC team and died in '02), a reserve role player, hit in the tying run Sunday night with A fielder's choice. Looked like a sure double play ball, but the 3rd baseman lost his footing and only got 1 out. Maybe Wally tripped that guy.
I don't know. But something is happening, and I am enjoying the hell out of the ride theses guys are giving us. It feels good to see LSU baseball looking like LSU baseball again!

Tigers advance in CWS

From Tigerbait$

It's an entire team

Throughout LSU's late-season winning streak, coach Paul Mainieri stressed that it was a total team effort which was responsible for the success. In the ninth-inning comeback against UC Irvine in the super-regionals last Sunday, bench players drove in two of the five runs.

Tigers lose their first game in the CWS

TigerBait$

In the lone loss in LSU's previous 26 games coming into the College World Series, starting pitcher Ryan Verdugo gave up two first-inning runs. Last weekend, Verdugo got the Tigers into a hole early in their super-regional series opener. UC Irvine ace Scott Scott Gorgen was too much for LSU to mount a rally. The Anteaters came way with a six-run victory

Can the Tigers blame their CWS struggles on a lack of an Ace?

TigerBait (Free)

It should not be surprising that LSU has fallen into the losers' bracket of the College World Series after one game.

for a Friday night stud

The opening game of the CWS, like the opening game of conference series, usually matches the top pitchers for the teams. Since the Tigers won their last national title in 2000, the top of the rotation has not been manned by many major league hurlers.
