damn.. pretty much picking us across the boards. I can't believe i'll be on campus for this season, but If the bucks put away USC then we will have a great shot at this thing.
We WILL beat USC. Take it to the bank and remember that you heard it here first. :oh:

Ok, NOW things are back to normal.

Scout.com: Blog...Enough With The Buckeyes!!!

In 2006, they lost 41-14. In 2007, they lost 38-24. Neither was as close as the score indicated. Now, heading into the 2008 season, the Ohio State Buckeyes are, again, ranked high in the pre-season polls, and one of the favorites for the BCS Championship Game in Miami, Fla. This cannot, and should not be allowed, regardless of their record

Coming from what I assume to be an Auburn fan.

We lost 41-14 and it was worse than the score indicated? That's a low blow.

Yes, but unfortunately true. The only reason Urban didn't hang 100 on us was because he coached here and probably still wants the job after Tress is gone. UF could've named their score.

Sad but true. I don't believe for a moment that last year's score wasn't indicative of the game. LSU was clearly in control of the center of each LOS; but they also benefitted from several freakish breaks. If the breaks came out more evenly, that game may've been closer.

LSU was the better team, but to say it was worse than the score indicated is revisionist history at best.

I think you are mixing up the NC games man. Dryden and Oh8ch were talking about the UF game.

I think DBB was extending my thought, since the original column referenced both.

The point is that that statement was true for 2006, but not for 2007. It's revisionist history because so many people pile on OSU's 2007 championship performance based on the 2006 fiasco.

It's only natural that I was extending your thought, because we're both BKB, right?

Your 2nd paragraph tells the whole story. Down here, any time Ohio State or the Big Ten are brought up in conversation, whether around the "water cooler" or on the radio, the only thing anyone has to say is that the last NC game was just a re-run of the previous one. The media has chosen their tag-lines, and unthinking people (including other media members) just repeat the tag-line ad nauseum.

Here are some facts about both games that people down here would dispute:
  • OSU neither prepared nor performed up to their potential vs. Florida
    • People down here don't even remember how good they thought OSU was before that game. They have revised history even within their own memories.
  • 2007 LSU was a much better team than 2006 Florida
    • And it's really not that close
    • Yeah, the game against '07 Florida was close; but Ohio State is one of very few teams to play a fully healthy LSU last season. Florida is not.
  • OSU did not lose to LSU's superior speed
    • We lost to LSU's superior power and experience
    • Beanie didn't look all that slow; did he Budreaux?
  • In spite of the fact that it can be looked up easily, they still deny that OSU outgained LSU in the title game.
    • When you gain 80-something yards in one game and then outgain your opponent in another, it is not reasonable to claim that the games were the same.
And here are some facts that people in Ohio would do well to admit:
  • We have no business saying the Buckeyes were better than Florida
    • The Buckeyes didn't show up, get over it. We'll never be able to prove it, and game day results matter more than potential anyway.
  • The Buckeyes did prepare well and played as well as can be expected against LSU.
    • LSU was just stronger than us in the center of the L.o.S. and they were much more experienced.
    • Our inexperience showed at times. That's to be expected. Tressel is good, but he's not omnipotent.
  • LSU was just plain better than OSU in 2007 and they proved it.
Florida would like to say they "proved it" too; but you can't make that claim when you're opponent doesn't "show up". Florida proved they were better that night. LSU proved they were better that year. JMHO

The best summary of the two games and what actually happened bias aside.
I agree on aall points. Interesting though that the highlighted part is also your argument in most of the 2008 vs 2002 threads. I always enjoy reading your posts DBB, keep it up!
