2008 Buckeye Football Season

Wow! I would have thought Henton transferring would have taken him completely out of the QB race. According to ESPN, he's still in the thick of things!

Good Job with the "Insider" material.
The info is taken from the Blue Ribbon magazine. The magazine was probably printed before Henton transferred.

The Big Ten Blue Ribbon Previews are up on ESPN. Ohio State's is the FREE one!

Ohio State Blue Ribbon Preview

They must have drawn letter grades out of a hat or something for this analysis. C+ on defense... :slappy:

Can someone show me the disclaimer where it says this article was created without any real knowledge about Ohio State.

Somehow ESPN has created something worse than its ESPN 150 recruiting rankings?

Uhh ...Seriously?

Ohio State
Offense C
Special teams B+
Defense C+
Intangibles A-

All of these letter grades HAVE to be a misprint.

I pray to God that every opponent on our schedule has this info as their scouting report on us.

Some of the comments on the article are hilarious.

Let's put the grades in context:
OSU in the BIG 10
Defense A+
Offense A+
Coaching, Special Teams, Intangibles A+
Outside the BIG 10
A big, fat F-

Those grades must be coming from Cowherd or Mark May, the two biggest The Ohio State University haters on the planet. Mark May is still holding a grudge that Ohio State didn't recruit him and got stuck with Pitt.

and the one that wraps up everyones feelings...
Wow... No wonder why this **** is free. This whole article was terrible

I heard that Joe Germaine has overtaken Henton and is challenging for the #1 spot. It will be interesting to see what Coop does with the situation. Overall, I give the QB spot a D+. At least the rating is higher than the defense's, they seem to be really knocking us with D'Andrea being out and all.

ESPN writers don't write it.

no shit.

The point I'm trying to make is while they aren't writing it they are certainly putting it on their website and making it free for everyone to see to entice people to buy their insider access package.

If they want people to buy their crappy insider service, perhaps they should QC what they are putting out there maybe?

It's quite logical to think people will see the poor quality of the preview (I'm sure the Ohio State preview isn't the only one with large errors) and NOT sign up for the E$$$$$$PN insider....

The Buckeyes will once again be on a regional SI cover when the preseason issue comes out next month. Beanie, Boeckman, and L'il Animal were at the photo shoot.

Football: Look for the Buckeyes in Sports Illustrated's College Football Preview

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- National attention comes hand-in-hand with high expectations. As was the case once again Tuesday afternoon inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex when Ohio State's Chris Wells, Todd Boeckman and James Laurinaitis took part in a photo shoot for next month's Sports Illustrated College Football Preview.

Ohio State is among the handful of schools that will embrace the one of regional SI covers that are scheduled to hit newsstands the first week of August.

The Buckeyes, who return nine starters on both sides of the ball, are picked among the top 3 nationally in several preseason publications and web sites and are picked to win a fourth-consecutive Big Ten championship.

Only thing is that unless you're a big Ohio State fan, like most of us here, you won't notice most of the stuff that many here have picked apart outside of the the grades that are obviously a bad cut and paste job. I doubt anybody is going to buy the insider package anyway just to see some team previews and if they are I'd question their intelligence. I think it's more a plug for Blue Ribbon to go buy the magazine which I'm sure is priced significantly less than buying the Insider package.

Out of curiosity I checked the grades again today to see if they'd changed.

Previously:
Ohio State
Offense C
Special teams B+
Defense C+
Intangibles A-

Currently:
Ohio State
Offense B+
Special teams C+
Defense B
Intangibles A-

Warmer, warmer, getting warmer.

Hopefully our "intangibles" will compensate for shortcomings in the other three areas :roll1:

Don't be alarmed. That popping sound you hear is just the bursting of blood-vessels in the brains of every SEC football fan.

CFN Asks: Who's your National Champ, Heisman Winner, etc...

- The national champion will be ?

Fiu: Ohio State. The sins of the past two years will be swept away.

Bruce Feldman: Ohio State
Dennis Dodd: Ohio State
Steve Greenberg: Oklahoma
Dennis Dodd: Ohio State
Teddy Greenstein: * Georgia
* subject to change

Richard Cirminiello: Ohio State. The third time is the charm for a Buckeye team that has few flaws and will face an opponent not nearly as fast or daunting as 2006 Florida or 2007 LSU.

Charles Davis: National Champion? Ohio State (third time's the charm)
