LSU from #8 to #16;

Who had us that high, and why?
Look at our shedule so far
  • App. St--> (1-AA team that lost to James Madison) is our "signature win"
  • North Texas--> (K-State, Tulsa, Rice, Floirida Int, ULLLLLLL all put up more points against them than we did).
  • Auburn --> struggled to beat Miss. St, So Miss, and Tenn (all bad teams), lost to freaking Arkansas already firing caoches
  • Miss St--> we gave up more points to them than La Tech, Ga Tech, and Aubie COMBINED
  • Florida--> lets not even discuss the events of Oct. 11, 2008 ever again. just act like nothing happened that day.
Does this "look" like the resume of a Top 10 team?

Your ability to remain objective is one of the things we like best about you....

wait for it...

BUT (there it is)

I'm not sure you're considering how deeply flawed almost every team is these days.

Can you imagine what would happen if you put THIS YEAR's OSU offensive line on the field against this year's LSU defensive line? The Tigers are a tough match-up for a LOT of teams, the Buckeyes included.

Tebow and the Gator offense, on a good day, can do that to anyone. But their resume is hardly spotless. Whose is?

You still have a very good chance to stamp your ticket to the SEC CG on November 8th, at home, against yoonohoo.

I guess the one thing that you are now is a homer:biggrin2:

I think that a lot of people do their voting based on wins and losses and really don't like the scores of the opponents or who they have played. That is what computers are supposed to do. I know it would take quite a bit of time for me to look at team's schedules and scores of past games. Some I know but not all of them. I will be very interested to see how you guys perform against Troy just because that is a common opponent between Ohio State and LSU. I think that Troy is a lot better team than people give them credit. Maybe not.

I think to a certain extent most of us agree on the top 10, possibly even the top 15, teams in the country. As to where they rank that is where quite a few of us disagree but that will all start to shake out as more conference games are played.

The teams that I have a problem with, and have had all season, are the teams like BYU, Utah, and Boise State all being ranked relatively high. I have no idea how good these teams really are and I don't think playing TCU is going to give us, or maybe I should say me, an indicator.

I also have a problem with South Florida (who lost to a very bad Pittsburgh team IMO), Vanderbilt (all their games have been pretty close and their true colors should start to show in the coming weeks), Minnesota (although they had a pretty easy remaining schedule), and Ball State (I know they haven't lost the put them in a major conference).

on paper, yes. on the field, we haven't shown that yet.

yeah, we dominate the lines vs App and UNT, but we were supposed to do that.
But against Auburn and Miss St (2 bad offenses), we let them have some of their best offensive performances, and got very little pressure on the QB's. While yes, Florida has the offense to do that to anyone, our lines were completely man-handled.

Right now, our D-Line is living off the reputation from the last few years. Do we have the talent to turn it around? Without a doubt. But until they do, they get knocked back a notch or two.

The problem is, there are only about five team that have consistently played like top-10 teams this season ... Ohio State, LSU, and Georgia got rocked by quality opponents, and Florida and Southern Cal lost to crap teams ... Alabama, Texas Tech, and BYU survived "scares" from mediocre teams ... Penn State hasn't played anybody ... Texas, Alabama, and Oklahoma State are the only undefeated teams with a "quality" win to their credit ... Oklahoma and Missouri have "good" losses, but so what, they're still losses.... Just put Texas at #1 and draw the rest out of a hat for now.

Quite a few people must have gone to BYU because they are #8:( in this weeks BP Poll. All I can say is that I am east of the Mississippi when it comes to quite a few of those teams.
BYU's remaining schedule:
10/16 at TCU
10/25 UNLV
11/01 at Colorado State
11/08 San Diego State
11/15 at Air Force
11/22 at Utah
Not a creme-puff schedule necessarily, but still an easier road to an undefeated season than Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, or Penn State ... and if BYU wins out, they're a top-5 team for sure.

Don't laugh, but I'm thinking about putting Ball St. a LOT higher thatn I have been. So far, they have played a tougher schedule than BYU.
