Pittsburgh's OL play last year was terrible, plus with the loss of Faneca, we needed help badly. He should step in and play at the LG spot pretty quickly.

Jacksonville is very pleased and surprised that Phillips fell this far (it was not expected)...SS was a position of need for the defense...

Washington took a long look at Sweed, Albert & Phillips... but simply fell in love with Thomas, especially what he achieved in spite of Hoyer :p

Phillips will be an excellent pickup for Jacksonville, and make an athletic, young tandem with Reggie Nelson... as well as adding Florence to the secondary by free agency.

While we wait on some wheeling and dealing in the war rooms... let's go back and take a look at some of the major prospects picked up since our last video segment, starting with Matt Ryan:

It's borderline criminal that Matt Ryan slid this far, I never saw him slipping beyond #8. He has all the physical tools of a franchise quarterback and, most importantly, he possesses rare intangibles. Like I said at his pro day, with the tools he has, and the ability to show the being able to show the anticipation, timing, accuracy & footwork, Carolina is getting a great prospect.

It's been interesting to watch over the last few years, as the 'golden boy' each year has been forced to endure a long wait in the green room, with Brady Quinn & Matt Leinart, and to a lesser extent Aaron Rodgers. With the David Carr expirement officially over, Carolina certainly got great value (both as a prospect and financially) for a guy I would certainly label as a fran-chise Q.B.
