Chinese government's news agency, Xinhua, reported that gymnast He Kexin was 13, which would have made her ineligible
I know that a news agency could probably disappear pretty fast in China but what about a government's news agency. Someone, like the writer of this article, is going to be going someplace pretty quickly if they are not already there.

The US did very well last night and regained the medal count lead... 6 medals (3 gold) in swimming and going 1-2 in the women's gymnastics all-around competition was a huge boost.

Track & field started last night (finally!) and the final slated for later this morning (09:00 EST) in the men's shot put has 3 Americans and all 3 have a legitimate medal shot.

BTW, Ohioan AG Kruger failed to qualify for the finals in the men's hammer throw... not unexpected as this is typically a weak event for the US.

I don't think there is any chance they'll disqualify the host country, even if it is...there's no way of verifying which report is correct, and they'll just say the current one is, and the last report was "mistaken". DQ China? The political ramifications are too great.

Exactly what I was going to say. Throw in the gymnastics announcers complaining about every single score and it's really quite irritating.

Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian throws away medal in Olympic hissy fit

While an Olympic medal would be seen by most athletes as the ultimate reward for a lifetime's work, Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian was less than pleased with the bronze he won at the Chinese Agricultural University Gym.

Abrahamian threw down his 84kg greco-roman bronze in disgust after his shot at gold was ended by a decision denounced by the Swedish coach as "politics".

Abrahamian took the medal from around his neck during the medal ceremony, stepped from the podium and dropped it in the middle of the mat before storming off.

The Swedish wrestler had to be restrained by team-mates earlier as a row erupted with judges over the decision in a semi-final bout with Andrea Minguzzi of Italy, who went on to the take gold.

Anyone else notice NBC's ridiculous commentating during the events last night?

Seems like every Chinese routine was scored 'much too high,' while every US routine was scored 'much too low.'

I can already tell the announcers are disappointed with all the age controversy... But there's no need to make it unprofessional and be so obviously biased.
