2008-09 NBA Off-season moves

This was one of the better years in the NBA... if you didn't notice that, I don't know what you were watching.

According to what standard? Just because you said so?

If the Celtics had the continuity that you think they do, they wouldn't have been pushed to 7 games by a bunch of no-names in Atlanta and a one man team in Cleveland. Ray Allen's performance in the playoffs alone shows that this team still has issues in terms of each player knowing his role.

You don't? What 4 teams would you put ahead of them? I think this was a very down year for the NBA, as the two teams in the finals aren't that impressive--the Lakers are a one man show, and the Celtics, due to their attempt to buy an NBA title, lack any kind of continuity as a team. Neither team has a deep bench either.

Who is better than the Pistons? How bout Boston to start since they beat Detroit. Then you have the Western Conference in LA, Utah, San Antonio & New Orleans for starters. Thats 5 teams right there better than Detroit.

The standard since Jordan left. There really hasn't been a good NBA season since Jordan left. This season saw the rise of many young stars and the NBA is regaining popularity from it. While it still doesn't approach the great seasons of the 80s - 90s. But its been a decade since we have seen a good season like this.

I agree that there's a lot of young stars and that the NBA is gaining popularity, but that's totally irrelevant to the original question of whether there were a number of good NBA teams this season. I don't think there were. Whether the NBA is more popular couldn't be more irrelevant to the question.

By the way, the Pistons swept the season series with the Spurs and Hornets, split 1-1 with the Lakers and got swept by the Jazz. So I think it's less than clear that all those teams in the West were better than Detroit this season. Then again, don't let inconvenient things like the facts get in the way of your opinion.

The NBA was deep this year...Celts, Pistons, Cavs, Magic, The whole West...

When a team like the Warriors doesn't make the playoffs you know you have a pretty deep league...Keep in mind the same team took out the #1 seed the year before...A team with AI and Melo getting swept in the playoffs...

I hate hearing this bullshit about close games, and series for the Celts as why the Celts are no good...Yeah it didn't look good and they kinda looked like they were exposed, but they are still playing and living to fight another day...There were reasons to think that the Pistons might take them, but too many people base things on the last thing they saw and games instead of looking at the matchups...The players on the teams, etc...

You have 3 all-stars on one team that is a good team...The Pistons have 3 all-stars...The Lakers have 2...Etc...Some very talented teams in the NBA, and to say there are not is just crazy...
