2008-09 Men's Basketball Polls/Seeding Projections/Rankings Discussion

No big deal because it is settled on the court come March. As usual, the Big 10:shake: is not getting much respect when it comes to basketball. I am surprised that scUm:crazy: did not jump into the top 10:lol: with their victory over Mikey's boys:)

I know that Harangody was coming back from sickness, but how is Notre Dame ranked 8 spots higher than the Bucks after we beat them in what amounted to a home game for them?
If Harangody had pneumonia early in the week and was able to play that well Saturday, I don't think I want many physicians in South Bend diagnosing me. Pneumonia takes the starch out of most people for quite some time. We probably have to beat UNC by 15 points in Chapel Hill to get into the top 10:(

Ohio State basketball: Buckeyes up to No. 21 in both polls

AP
Evan Turner, right, hugs David Lighty after Saturday's win over Notre Dame. Turner was the Big Ten Player of the Week and is also part of a top 25 team.

Ohio State's basketball team jumped into the top 25 today for the first time since losing the national title game in 2007, landing at No. 21 in both the AP poll and coaches poll.
The Buckeyes were just outside the top 25 before beating No. 21 Miami on the road and No. 7 Notre Dame on a neutral court last week.
At 5-0, the Buckeyes remain behind the 6-2 Fighting Irish in both polls despite their head-to-head win. (Is this the BCS?)

If ANYBODY here can justify to me why Baylor and ASU are ranked when Michigan and Dayton aren't, please do so.

Baylor and ASU are very good teams...Obviously if you go by schedule you would probably put Michigan and Dayton in there, but is what Michigan done more upset or going to be the norm?

Baylor is a proven team, they were in the tourney last year, and are a very athletic and fun team to watch...

ASU has the harden kid I believe is his name and he is the type that can keep them in any ball game...Believe he scored 40 pts the other night...

Obviously it is still very early and these rankings don't mean a whole lot, and you are still dealing with preseason perceptions of these teams...

I am shocked that Michigan did not get in.......6-2 with two wins over top 5 teams.........not one bad loss.........tough field.

5 winning seasons and no NCAA tourney bids in almost 10 years does that for ya. It's kinda the opposite of us in football when in previous years a 5-2 Michigan team would be in like the Top 15 and some smaller team would be 7-0 and ranked like #20... It's a respect factor. Michigan still has to earn it all back. If you changed our schedule with Michigan State or a team of that respected caliber, and they had our record they'd be in the Top 15.
