I don't even know that they're neglecting it. They have offers on the table...it's just hardly anybody is taking them. I can't speak to how hard DickRod is recruiting the defensive kids, but something is cetainly wrong. Maybe the defensive kids see his defensive track record and are less than impressed. Maybe the higher rated kids that used to line up to go to tsun for a chance at the NFL realize DR's track record of putting kids in the NFL is piss-poor at best.

I do know this: you could compete and win the Big East with a mediocre or even bad defense. That will not happen in the Big-10. I don't care if Newsome or the Beav turn into Pat White v2.0, if they don't field a strong defense, results won't be much different than they have been the past 5-6 years.

Michigan Rivals Front Page

Reporting 3-star FL S Mike Jones has verballed to Michigan over offers from ND (ND fans have always argued otherwise), USF & Kentucky offers. Ranked #24/37 (scout/rivals) at his position.

If true, only 2 spots remaining (before attrition), with 1 OL and 0 DEs on board. May be zero spots if Hawthorne & Smith verbal as predicted.

Of 13 commits UM now has 3 recruits rated in the top 20 at their positions. Rumors indicate the next two will be three stars as well.

I don't know how big this class is supposed to get, but the number of recruits in the top 20 at their position has been 12 each of the past two seasons.


FOOTNOTE: West Virgina has commitments from FIVE players rated in the top 20 at their position.

also like their last verbal, GBW is now confirming the verbal as official, now that RR accepted it (per the article).

Decided on UM weeks ago after visit; committed formally today.

So Rivals reported the initial verbal to the staff, Scout held out reportedly for the official thumbs up from RR, which came quite quickly. :so:

Hate to hear that. :( I believe this is the first public confirmation of the rumors, other than Les Miles telling head-to-head recruits that Carr was dying to sway them :shake:

edit: just saw this was posted in Carr's thread, I think it's big enough to deserve visibility here as well

Yeah you already probably know, but TJB always makes excuses every time Rivals posts a commit before them.. Then, if the recruit decommits later in the year they rub it in Rivals face. But if they get the info first, they go all "BREAKING NEWS" and crap on us.
