Those are the four that I've been guessing will leave early. The idea that we could also lose Robiskie early has me a little worried. Of those five, I really think that Robiskie is the one that needs to stay the most. Prove that he's not a one hit wonder. The others have already done that, and may not see much of a rise in stock if they were to stay another year.

Fiutak picked OSU, the other three did not. Only Cirminiello's response is all that bad... I'm surprised that anyone gave the Bucks the nod, but I feel that Fiutak is the only staff writer at CFN that has closely followed the Buckeyes progress this year. Actually, given his write-up, I can't tell if Cirminiello has followed OSU or LSU to this point this year...

CFN: Pick it: LSU vs OSU

The other three made good arguments though.

More Buckeye love from Fiutak's C.O.W.: CFN: Calvacade of Whimsy

Relax, they?re not going to play Florida again ? No one is doing jumping jacks at the idea of Ohio State playing in another national title game. After all, the Buckeyes gave us that all-timer of a clunker against Florida. Now try looking at this from a different angle. Ohio State had one really, really, really, really, really, really, really bad game, but it?s not like it lost to Appalachian State or Stanford at home. It lost to a fantastic Gator team playing at peak capability. It was one game. This is a Buckeye team that?s won 27 straight regular season games and 33 of its last 36 overall. Also remember that before last year?s debacle it had won four straight bowl games, including three in the BCS, and a national title. Again, it was one game, and there?s no way, no chance the team will come out that flat again in whatever bowl it ends up playing in.

Like I said, Fiutak seems to be the only one following the Bucks closely on CFN... 33 of 36 ain't bad, especially when 2 losses came to national champions and the other in a tough game during the first-ever white out (FWIW - and Buckeyemark notwithstanding) at Happy Valley.

...and as if that wasn't enough:
My Heisman ballot this week would be … I vote based on a combination of three things: Most valuable player, most outstanding player, and the signature player of the season. I might wildly change my mind weekly, but I’ll sort it all out at the end. 1) Matt Ryan, QB Boston College, 2) Pat White, QB West Virginia, 3) Tim Tebow, QB Florida, 4) Dennis Dixon, QB Oregon, 5) Todd Boeckman, QB Ohio State

Before you think he's gone absolutely crazy... he does have Wisconsin beating the spread this weekend...

Buckeyes grow more comfortable at No. 1
But they're not overconfident as season winds down
BY RUSTY MILLER | THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

COLUMBUS - As the weeks pass with Ohio State riding the crest of the polls and the BCS rankings, the Buckeyes are growing tired of hearing about why they don't deserve to be No. 1.
"The polls are saying we're No. 1 and the people are saying we're not," tight end Rory Nichol said.
The Buckeyes (9-0, 5-0 Big Ten) are growing aggravated that no matter what they do seems to be downgraded or dismissed. They're tired of all the talk about how bad the Big Ten Conference is or how weak their schedule has been.

Streaking Buckeyes face tough finish

Riding a record 20-game winning streak in the Big Ten, OSU now prepares for its final two games.

By Rusty Miller
Contributing Writer

COLUMBUS ? In spite of a 10-0 record built on an average score of 35-10, top-ranked Ohio State believes it has been tested by fire.
"Being down is a good situation for our team," linebacker and Wayne grad Marcus Freeman said after Saturday's closer-than-it-might-look 38-17 win over Wisconsin. "Handling adversity is important."

Just two left for Buckeyes
Monday, November 5, 2007

Now there are just two games left in the Buckeyes' regular season, Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the 'Shoe against Illinois and a noon kickoff Nov. 17 at The Big House.

If the Buckeyes were to win those two, who would they play in the Bowl Championship Series national championship game?

Here are the top contenders, by this week's BCS rankings, and their remaining games:

Best route is through SEC
Jason Lloyd, Morning Journal Writer

THIS is the way it had to be, right? Ohio State No. 1, the SEC No. 2.

In order to officially exorcise all the ghosts from last year's title game, the Buckeyes will have to play another SEC team in the national championship game.

Oregon or Oklahoma would be nice, the SEC would be better.

They're now in position to do that, with LSU moving up to No. 2 this week in the BCS.

Ohio State fans would have probably taken a two-touchdown victory over Boston College on Jan. 7, hoisted the championship trophy and been just fine with that. But deep down, a win over LSU or any other SEC team would be so much sweeter.

And yes, Ohio State can beat LSU in the national championship game.

Good story on the Buckeyes by Dan Wetzel from Yahoo Sports.

Buckeyes against a nation - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? As they drank away the hours to kickoff Saturday at the Legacy Bar just off campus here, fans of Alabama and Louisiana State couldn't agree on much.

There was the argument over whose coach sucked more, whether putting purple in houndstooth was sacrilegious and even which fans smelled more like corndogs (insider SEC joke). Considering the tales of fist fights all over town the night before, these arguments were not for the faint of heart.
It wasn't until a television showed Wisconsin taking a 17-10 lead on Ohio State that everyone ? at least everyone who didn't have money on the game ? found some common ground.

"Ohio State is a joke," one guy said. "Let 'em play a real schedule."

It's a good article, but I'm getting tired of the "by far the weakest of the BCS conferences" when refering to the B10.
If any of these tools would actually look at the season objectively, they would see that's blatantly false.

Heck, the B12 now has 3 teams in the top 7 or 8 (can't remember where Mizzou is) but I don't hear the concencus that the B12 is obviously the best conference. It' just a function of the incredible weakness of the bottom half (or 2/3) of their conference.

If scUm hadn't prepared for the season like zombies, and were playing with the same intensity then as now, they would be ranked in the top five or six as well.

I sure hope we beat scUM so only one B10 team is in BCS games this year, so we will have a fair fighting chance to match up with the other conferences in Bowl games.

Kiper on the Bucks NC chances

Chris, Atlanta: Do you see Ohio state getting schlacked by LSU if they play in the bowl game

Mel Kiper: I'd be surprised if anyone schlacked OSU. This LSU team is very fortunate to not have lost four games. They could have lost the last four games. You talk about how everyone fears LSU, but Dorsey and Doucet have battled injuries. In terms of OSU, they have a heckuva defense. They have a strong running game. They have the emergence of Robiskie. Boeckman has done a good job replacing Troy Smith. I think OSU and LSU would be a good football game. The thing that hurts OSU automatically is the 50-day layoff. How the heck do you evaluate a team if you have 50 days to sit around waiting for a game. That would be like having the NFL have championship Sunday for the conference title games and instead of waiting two weeks for the Super Bowl, you would wait 7 weeks. You can't wait seven weeks and expect to play your best game. Plus you've got guys out on the banquet circuit with all the awards, how can you keep focused on football? The system in college football, that's why I lose a lot of interest in college football after the regular season.

Ya know what? The fans of every other team in the good old US of A can keep right on bitching and whining and moaning about the Bucks and I could give a rat's ass.
Easy schedule ? I could care less.
We have better talent? I'd have to see it.
Better Coach ? I can't believe it.
Harder conference? Yawn. ( to borrow the expression)
Far as I'm concerned they can keep right on with their crybaby antics because I won't care other than to laugh my ass off over it.
When we win the NC this year I will laugh in their faces and buy them a beer if they want to whine about it because it will be funny.
As far as I am concerned ,MY Buckeyes ARE the best team in the nation and will be until one of those teams that lost to a middle roader in a "much" stronger conference. jumps up and beats us.
But until then I laugh at them , HAHA AHAHA. They are just jealous of us so let them try to bring us down to their level with their barbs and inuendos.
If they don't have to courtesy and sportsmanship to respect us then I will laugh.
I will live with MY Buckeyes and be sad with them But I am a Buckeye through and through and no one will make me believe less of MY team than the team itself.
:oh:
