Boeckman is the guy to start off the season opener at #1. He finds the open guy and is very accurate. Whether he maintains his #1 position as the staff gets PT for the other guys early in the season will have to be seen.

Schoenhoft looks the best throwing the ball, and is the hardest to sack because of his freakish strength, and his mobility. Hasn't shown as much field vision and accuracy yet, though.

Henton has MAD running skills - as good or better than Troy Smith - but we will have to see where he stands in the passing game as I hate to judge passers by what they did against high school competition. His "give me the ball" attitude is great to see, but I think the other two guys have it as well.

Is it possible we'll see a predominantly pro-set offense with Boeckman and a spread/option package with Henton? I guess we'll see, won't we?

Boeckman looked good in his limited play vs. Miami (I believe) TD pass to Ginn. I believe his knowledge gained will give him an advantage, but competition is always a great way for everyone to improve. I believe the competition helped TS tremendously.

Henton's footwork looked great in the Spring practice as well. Very fast feet.

I haven't seen much of any of them, but I like the depth we have after loosing Troy.

Regardless of who it is I am looking forward to the development of all of them over the next few years.

I'm really excited about this Andrew Cribbs kid. 5* recruit that runs a 4.5 40 and has an A+ arm. Wait, I think that's the dude I recruited on NCAA '07. Is this the REAL Buckeyes, or are we talking about our PS/XBox teams? Anybody have Mustain's mommy's number?

It's going to be Boeckman unless he repeatedly lays enormous turds on the field or is injured. There really isn't/shouldn't be a controversy. If Henton is the real thing, he will eventually get his reps, but it won't happen next year.

It is unrealistic (and unfair) to expect that Henton can approximate Troy Smith. There are lots of "running"/"athletic" quarterbacks in DI, but Troy was special. His maturation is well-chronicled and took time. Given his athletic ability, one of the things that was most special about Troy was his capacity to not make mistakes. Mistakes (sacks, fumbles, picks, incompletes...) are more likely to happen in a running type of attack. Smith's TD/INT ratio was sick for any QB, but was ungodly for a "runner". Henton may develop into the QB Troy was and I hope he does, but I doubt that it will happen and it certainly won't in the 2007 spring ball coronation that I've read so much about recently.

For now, Boeckman is the guy. He deserves the shot and gives us the best chance to win next year. We may not have flashy wins, but we will have Tresselball wins with him and those were good enough to get us the 2002 NC.

In JT I trust.

I mean I want Henton to start, but I don't think he has a shot really to start the year off as the starter. You know JT will go with experience, which sucks because with our first two games being two secure wins I think it'd give Henton enough game experience to atleast settle down and not look like a dear in headlights at Washington.

It takes tressel a good while to trust his QB's for some reason and with Henton only been here a year I just don't think he'll hand the ball to a redshirt freshman. I think we'll need Hentons mobility this year which is why I PRAY that they atleast give the kid a shot. I think all three of the QB's will make mistakes ya know? So why not go with a kid who can atleast make something out of nothing, not to mention you can still run options and roll outs. I'll support whoever they put out there for sure no doubt about that, but I just really would like to see what Henton has first before settling for experience over talent.

I'm not sold yet on Boeckman. It could very well be Schoenhoft starting in '07. As for the strongest arm since Germaine, I would hope his arm is much stronger. Germaine was a great Buckeye QB, but he was known for his accuracy and finding the open receiver. He didn't really have the strongest arm.

I think Henton is the most popular choice because everyone wants their #7 jerseys to still be relivant next year....i know thats pretty much the main reason i want him to start next year

that and the TS comparisons might have something to do with it...i mean just think how rediculous Smith would have been with an extra year of experience, and we have the oppurtunity to see that with Henton now

I think that the best option is to start Boeckman in the first few games and give RS and AH playing time in the 3rd and 4th quarters and then JT can make a judgment call from there (hopefully one in favor of Henton)

jared lorenzen there folks. in fairness to alex for his size he runs a killer 40 so if he was the QB i would prolly just run away from him.....or at least try to

sums it up for me however there are things that need to be addressed. his throwing motion is a lil off and he needs to get his body into the throws more and he tends to have indecisiveness occasionally as well as well as the urge to run too quickly(TS). of course im sure this has all been nitpicked apart by coach daniels so im sure he has improved drastically but a game and practice are two different monsters to deal with. i say boeckman starts the season and then henton takes over......my only hope is that it doesnt have to be a debacle for the switch to happen.

Ohio State quarterbacks have big shoes to fill

Boeckman leads trio of contenders as spring practice starts Thursday.

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State isn't necessarily looking for a dual-threat quarterback to replace Heisman Trophy-winner Troy Smith this year.
After all, the Buckeyes found they could manage just fine last season without having their QB utilize his wheels.

Smith rushed for 611 yards and 11 TDs in 2005, but he morphed into a pocket passer as a senior, throwing for 30 TDs with only six interceptions while rushing for 204 yards and just one score.

COLUMBUS - Jim Tressel will be in Atlanta as a basketball fan Saturday when Ohio State meets Georgetown in the Final Four, and he said he'll fly back down if the Buckeyes make Monday's championship game.

But he also has his own business to attend to.
Ohio State football opens spring football on Thursday with the first of 15 practices that will culminate with the spring game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. In an hour-long kickoff news conference today, Tressel hit on several topics, including Todd Boeckman's current status as the starting quarterback and Ted Ginn Jr.'s plans to run twice for NFL scouts before the NFL draft on April 28.
