2007 NFL Draft (Projections/Mock Drafts/Evaluations/Draft)

hall is very overrated. He had a terrible game against us this year. he was mediocre in senior bowl practices too. I could really see him being a bust in the nfl. he isn't very fast and guys can separate themselves from him fair easily.

ginn is overrated as well imo. yes, hes a game breaker, but gonzo runs better routes than him, and his hands aren't very good. he really wasn't that great on kick returns this year either. i really like him as a player, but theres much more to being a WR than blazing speed.

I think Ginn's upside is that, even as a bust, he should be a huge return threat and be able to contribute as #2 receiver (worst case scenario), not to mention the ways you can line him up. Basically his versatility makes him a safer "bet" for a lot of teams.
Gonzo is a straight up receiver, and I think he'll do very well, but if he doesn't turn up as a WR he can't really contribute in other areas like Ginn can.

So why were you shilling for the Browns to pick him as well?????

he really didn't do that well on kick returns this year though....he definitely has the potential to bust open huge plays though.

i really want to see him do well, but his drops are really going to hurt him early on. who knows though, santanio looked downright AWFUL at times this year, but he really turned it on at the end of the year.

You mean he didn't have many TDs returning? His average was pretty good and I can remember at least 2 TDs. This while teams avoided kicking the ball his direction like it was the plague. Why do you think we started putting Gonzo back there with him on punts? Ginn shows great promise as a return man, and I think GMs will see that.

Dropping the ball didn't seem to be an issue this year. It will be a lot of hard work for him to become an impact WR in the NFL, but the potential is there and he's shown great work ethic learning the position in 3 years, being in the spotlight.

Already talked to by skidoo, but I agree, the lack of kicks to Ginn accounts for a lot of this.

How many WRs actually show totally jaw dropping stuff in their first year - certainly not many, fewer still get in the groove from the first game on.

Jerry Rice, who many consider to be the greatest receiver ever, had a pretty shaky start in the NFL. He had numerous drops, he had huge question marks coming in, with many questioning his durability, his speed.

Rice shut up his doubters pretty well, netting 927 yards once he got going, over a quarter of which came in one game - a 10 catch effort for 241 yards against the Rams, in December of '85. His YPG average other than that game was not huge his first year, and his TD production OK, but not holler from the hill tops worthy, at a total of three.

I believe that the sports press has unrealistic expectations for their drafted student athletes. When they come good within their first season, we and they should be pleasantly surprised. When they do not, be patient.

Does anything impress you, king rhabuf?

I'm going to guess 4-year starting QBs that lead great comeback wins against Juggernauts (Stanford, UCLA, and MSU), career numbers like 95 TD - 39 Int, and going 0-3 in Bowl Games all while playing in an offense that throws just 7 times less a game than an offense he's called gimicky (as an attempt to discredit their QB as a product of the system.)

Does anybody else wonder if King is just NDC in disguise?

And exactly how many drops did Ted have this year??? Try to give me at least 2 games where he had more than one. You blow my mind.

Are you on this board just to drive the rest of us crazy? :tongue2:

No, but I do think he post just to see his name on the "TV" and impress his mom.

Did you watch the game this year? He had three drops. He had 2 kickoff returns, including the one in the NCG.

when the hell did I ever say that?

lets just make stuff up!

You did say he was "sticking to his man" at one point...

I find it interesting that the knack on every Michigan player except Alan Branch is the fact that "they played with lots of talent." I really think its ridiculous to say that Branch alone enabled Woodley to get sacks and Hall to stick with his man.

You've also talked about Phil looking at a CB in the first 2 rounds, which won't happen.
