2007 NFL Draft (Projections/Mock Drafts/Evaluations/Draft)

That's where he seems to fit the best, but the NT in a 3-4 still needs to get a push and burst up-field, especially when stopping the run... I didn't see that push out of Branch...

uh hes the reason woodley had such a big year. don't buy into what kiper said about branch, hes the real deal.

Just the Buckeye updates...

10:55 a.m. Offensive lineman Doug Datish of Ohio State measured 6-4 1/4 and 302 Pounds. He poked a little fun about the process this week. He answered on a questionnaire that asked if he ever had back pain, and he answered occasionally. ?So I spent six hours at the hospital yesterday getting two MRIs and a CAT Scan for my occasionally stiff back,? Datish said with a grin and a thick dose of sarcasm.

11:38 a.m.: Ohio State wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez was asked about the BCS Championship game and if it stuck with him. ?It?s definitely a sore spot. You spend hours and hours and hours preparing to make sure your career doesn?t end like that, but it did. That?s real. That?s the reality, and you accept it and try to move on.? When asked what he would bring to the NFL. ?What I hope to bring, and what I plan to bring is consistency, reliability and accountability. And it?s those three things on and off the field.?

Very JT-esque response from Gonzo...

12:59 p.m.:Quarterback Troy Smith of Ohio State when asked if the season was bittersweet, Smith answered good naturedly. ?It wasn?t bittersweet, it was sweet. Just because we didn?t finish the season the way we wanted to, was no reason to sour on the whole year and what we accomplished.

2:15 p.m.:Ohio State running back Antonio Pittman weighed in at 207 pounds, and he was proud to have put on the weight. ?I think I weighed more than people were expecting, so that?s a good thing.? When asked if it might sacrifice some of his speed: ?No? It was all good weight.?

Better NFL player, Branch or Hall?

Branch...I think he is a legit player. Hall on the other hand was overhyped and got destroyed by the better WR's he faced all year long. How he is a first round pick is beyond me, let alone the top ranked corner in the draft.

I think Branch will be better in the long run. NTs are a real premium, and I think he's a very good NT coming out of college.
Hall is a physical corner, very solid on a basic level but I don't think he'll ever be a #1 corner. IMO, he has reached his peak and #2 CBs are a dime a dozen. His biggest worth is that he can be a starter right now.

IMO...and this is from watching 5 scUM games or so, but Hall's name doesn't even belong in any 1st round projection. I am still clueless as to why people are drooling over him left and right. Oh well, let him be someone's first round bust I guess. Branch on the other hand, I think he has a future somewhere in the league.

I don't read or listen to what Mel Kiper says, because I don't give ESPiN a dime of my money...
I'm just going by what I've seen of him and what I know about 3-4 NT's in the NFL... Your DT's have to make plays and get push, and I haven't ever seen that out of Branch... He's a space eater that takes on some blocks, but he won't push the pocket or crash the backfield with any regularity... I'm just not sold on him at all...

I think the only reason Hall is so high is because this is a very down year in CBs. Honestly, I think Youboty would probably be a top-3 CB this year. I think Hall will go in the 1st because somebody will reach out of need.

He needs to run a good time at the combine for that to happen...

I think the only CB's I'd have a first round grade on are Darelle Revis and Aaron Ross, and they are borderline 1st's...

I agree his 40 time will greatly influence where he lands, but I don't think it needs to be blazing for him to stay in the 1st. His technique really is pretty good and he's a solid tackler (save Robiskie  ), he's just not athletically gifted like others. Based on that, I still think somebody reaches as long as his 40 is very close to 4.5.

God Bless Solomon. Finally someone is seeing the light!

They were reporting live from the combine.

Not sure if Hall is working out or not but Wilcots is someone whose opinion I respect so when he says something like that I listen.
