2007 NBA Finals - Cavs v Spurs

Cleveland is playing good defense. Boobie is surprising me by just how good he's been playing. Lebron needs to drive to the hoop and let his jumpshot come in natural breakdown. I'm not bothered by anything on San Antonio, right now, apart from Parker's penetration, which the Cavs are now backing off of him to prevent, making him shoot the jumpshot.

LeBron is cold early on. I don't think they are playing well but they are right there with the Spurs so that's a good sign.
Cold is how he started the last series, so in the long haul hope remains.
But, tonight it is his team-mates that are keeping it close.
LeBron 1st half + 4, 0-8 from the floor, 0-2 from 3-point range.

No way he is that icy all game, nor all series.

Gibson should be starting in place of Hughes. He does nothing for this team right now.

It's slightly encouraging when you think the the Cavs (LeBron) played about as bad as possible, yet they were close at halftime and were able to pull close at the end. Not to mention, right now the Spurs are just holding serve.

However, it was plain to see at points in this game that the Cavs are just overmatched. Z is not contributing at all. The interior passing is horrible. I know Duncan is a great defender, but when they've had a chance to finish inside, they've made weak efforts.

The Cavs role players just don't stack up to this Spurs team. I'd love to see the Cavs prove me wrong but if the rest of the series goes like this, the Cavs won't get to game 5.

Well game 1 is over but they hung in there even though I thought they played pretty poor. As long as they improve on their mistakes I still think the Cavs can win it all but they need to get gibson some more shots, Z-dog has to become a factor and go strong to the hole, and Lebron has gotta shoot better. Learn from your mistakes and regroup guys....let's get it done. GO CAVS!

Count me among the few who are maybe just a little encouraged. Obviously a win would have been much better, but for how badly they played, it was still a relatively close game. There are three rather obvious things that need to change...1. LBJ needs to play better, 2. Gibson needs to be in the game more, preferably over Hughes, 3. This 3rd quarter bullshit needs to be fixed.

If it were not for yet another post halftime meltdown, the Cavs are in that game until the final seconds...possibly going for the win.

I totally agree, I am encouraged...My feeling was that we needed one of these games, and we would be fine...

Keep in mind SA has been here before, they knew what to expect, we were a little gunshy and were just really getting our feet wet up until midway thru the 4th quarter...

It is just like the Detroit sereis IMO, if we can find a way to put points on the board we can win...

No way LBJ has another game like tonite where he has 6 to's and shoots 25% from the field...

If Hughes was healthy he would be a huge benefit to us this series guarding Parker, but with him being hurt I think he hurt us out there, b/c it isnt like he is guarding someone that he just has to run with and isnt overly quick, but he is guarding one of the fastest PG's in the ame and with that foot injury there is no stepping in front of him...

Also I will say it over and over until this series is over, and I was screaming at my tv, but let Duncan and Parker get their points, but don't leave the shooters...There is no reason why Horry, Bowen, and Ginobili should be getting wide open 3's...A 2 pointer from Duncan or a hard foul and send him to the line where he only makes 1 of 2, is a lot better than 3 points...

The one time DJ helped out when Jacque Vaughn was under the hoop and gave I think Bowen a wide open 3 I about threw the remote thru the tv...

Also LBJ after that charge call backed off b/c he was getting the calls going to the hoop, hopefully he can find a way to draw fouls and get to the line some, which means he needs to get to the hole...He needs to be eating Bowen alive in the post, and when they bring Duncan or someone over, he can dump it off for an easy bucket...Also he needs to be coming off screens like he did late in the game, and then work from there, we can't run the pick n' roll every freakin' time...

And one other thing that killed us tonite that I really hope that we can take care of, was their ability to get rebounds on the offensive end...There is no reason Oberto and Elson should be getting all those rebounds...If need be LBJ needs to do more in terms of getting in there and getting some of them long rebounds...
