You've got to hand it to Cal State Fullerton. The Bucks were undefeated at home and had beaten CSUF 3 times in a row. To come back and win 2 was quite an accomplishment for them. My hat's off.

Great season for the Lady Buckeyes. Good times lay ahead.

Now, come on, tailgator_gal, give it up for the hubby...

I hope this works .
I have for you JC my first ever cookie award for supporting women's sports.

Linda Kalafatis Wins another honor for Buckeyes

Big Ten Coach of the Year Kalafatis and her staff receive Ohio State?s first regional honor

COLUMBUS, Ohio ?
The honors continue to come in for the Buckeyes after their record-setting 2007 season as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named Linda Kalafatis and her assistants as the Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Kalafatis, along with assistant coaches Ali Viola and Erica Beach and volunteer assistant Kim Doran, guided Ohio State to a historic season in which the Buckeyes captured the program?s first Big Ten title in 17 years and their first Big Ten tournament championship.
Ohio State finished the year 40-18, won back-to-back NCAA tournament games for the first time and came within one win of a berth in the NCAA Super Regional. Kalafatis was also named the Big Ten Coach of the Year in May for the second time in her career.
?This recognition obviously has everything to do with what our student-athletes did on the field and the efforts of our support staff for putting them in position to have success,? Kalafatis said. ?In addition, I have an incredibly talented and dedicated coaching staff and we absolutely loved being in the trenches with our 2007 team. We believe that great things are in store for Ohio State softball and this season is a reflection of that. As the Great Lakes Coaching Staff of the Year, we are more than honored to represent an

Smith Takes Another Quick Step, This Time into Ohio State Hall of Fame

Buckeyes? only first-team All-American takes her spot among all-time greats
By Tim Stried, Ohio State Athletics Communications
COLUMBUS, Ohio ? On the softball field, Anna Smith was never one to take her time. Whether that was earning a starting spot as a freshman, or bursting from the batter?s box after the lefty slapper dropped a bunt down the third-base line, or sprinting to second for another stolen base, or snagging a hard-hit fly ball in the gap.
So it should come as no surprise that only five years after her playing days ended, the softball program?s only first-team All-American had her named called this week for enshrinement in the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame. Considering the selection committee has a five-year waiting period before a former Buckeye can become eligible for the Hall of Fame, Smith is in essence a rare ?first-ballot? selection.

With softball growing at the rate that it is, I'm not surprised that she was a first ballot selection. Softball is still on the mind after such a great season and so many awards passed around this year.

This program is on the rise. And I couldn't be happier.
