2007 Fall Practice Tidbits

nope. he's in all the right places at all the right times. but hasn't wow'd me yet either. which of course should be taken with a cup o salt considering he was a sophmore :p.

Was this response for me? Nope?

i was more than a little surprised that he was a butkus finalist. then i rememberd awards are popularity contests. jl shouldn't have been a butkus finalist. im sure ill get dinged for that, but its the truth. i see jl as being a guy who plays his position very well. but he doesn't define the position with his play, yet. thats the way butkus played. thats the way guys like hawk, and the big kat, and speils played. if i wanted to teach a kid who had never seen football before how to play olb, id pull out a tape of A.J. Hawk and tell him to watch it until he had every play memorized. thats what the butkus is to me. its not a guy who plays his role well. its a guy who defines the position with his play.

jl simply put isn't to that point yet. look out when he gets there though.

Agree, although I think AJ had more athleticism than JL. JL may not be able to reach AJ's level.

I wouldn't be too troubled if some crazed Contractor lined up a few Miami, Fla fans and beat them with a ball peen hammer.

Yeah, I could get over that without intense grief counseling I think.

Come to think of it..... fuck fans of other teams, I was going to be nicer this year but I'm over it now .

...which obviously means that he can't blitz effectively!!!

Don't you remember anything from your "Unwarranted Conclusions" class at Hogwarts?

I never said he can't blitz, I said one area I think he'll improve in is making plays in the backfield.

What post were you reading?

Wayyyyyyy off topic but..........has anyone heard anything new about whos turning out in camp.

Sanzenbacher has catipulted to the 3rd receiver with the injury to Small. From what I've heard, he is very intelligent......and is picking up on the drills very quickly. The coaching staff is very high on this kid.

Saine seems to be making some pushes. Henton has shown flashes of being the guy, but still is struggling to learn the whole offense.

Defensively, Robert Rose could be moved to tackle due to the depth at the end spot, just to get him on the field. Surprisingly, Heyward is getting reps at end......

From what I'm hearing........the offense is really struggling at the moment, which is pretty common for this time of year. That could be due to the prominence of the defense. Good thing the first few games are easy, or OSU would be in a bit of trouble early on (ie, if we had Texas this year instead of last......or if we had USC this year instead of next).

Can you two switch to PMs or something? I'm tired of getting my hopes up for real practive tidbits just to be let down by a bunch of dipshits... :wink2:

Hope Rose gets lots of playing time this year. Heyward is probably at end for now until he bulks up.

he doesn't need to in order to be better at his particular position. this is why compairing jl to aj is so difficult. it would be much easier (and more effective) to compair jl to schlegs or wilhelm.
