Buckeye Camp Marked by Players with Something to Prove
By John Porentas

Bench press numbers, 40 times, star ratings and conditioning achievements all go out the window today. The Buckeyes put on the pads today at 3:00 PM for the first time this fall. That means it's time to find out who the workout wonders are and who the football players are.

All the work, all the conditioning, all the speed, all the strength are nice, but they are not an end, they are a means, a means to being a good football player. Today the Buckeyes put on the pads and start banging one another to find who the good football players really are.

"It's real football," said linebacker James Laurinaitis.

"You can see how good athletes are in just helmets and who wants to bring it a little bit just with the shoulder pads on, but unless you have full pads on it's not real footbal," explained Laurinaitis.

"You can see if young guys are ready to step up by how physical they want to be and you get to work on certain things like being more aggressive and being more physical when you get the pads on. It will be a fun little Hoot-n-Holler on Saturday."

Cont'd ...

Good stuff. Put the speculation aside, when the hitting starts..........that is when the depth chart will start to take form.

YES!!! Full pads means the season is even closer.

Maybe it's just me, but every picture I see of Lawrence Wilson, he appears to have menace in his eyes. He might be the defender having a breakout year.

He earned play time as a true freshman and I thought he was going to have a breakout year last year, but then he got hurt for most of the year, so it would be nice to see him make a full comeback and fullfill the potential he showed to earn playtime two years ago.

Ray Small sprained his ankle pretty good today, probably be out more then a week.

Antonio Henton has looked REALLY good the past two days.

Beanie got a stinger today during hoot and holler and only participated in one rep.

Taurian Washington looked impressive today.

Oliver is going to play special teams, the coaches love him.

Saine, Sanzenbacher, Herron, Heyward, Torrence have caught the eyes of alot of the coaches.

Aw man this gets me pumped for the season. Hopefully Small can get back on the field ASAP and hopefully Beanie's stinger isn't too bad!

GO BUCKS!

It's good to hear the front four seems to be coming together nicely.

Well that sucks.. More worried about Beanie's stinger.. we saw how those things could linger (Clarett)...

True, but "stinger" is a catch-all term anymore...

They know what Beanie can do...no sense exposing the Golden Goose in such a drill when the only question in the backfield is who is the #2 RB.
