2007 Cavs Free Agent/Trade Rumors

Randolph(though I'm wary of his past character issues, but there wouldn't really be any bad influences in Cleveland for him) and Marion would be ideal. I'd like to get a big to run with Lebron. Boozer would have been perfect, but I'd LOVE to have a Marion caliber player run with the Cavs.

Randolph is by far the best fit for the Cavs out of that group, but he does have those issues, but he's also a legit 20-10 guy. If Portland takes Oden, you'd have to think they would unload Randolph before they unload Aldridge. I'd take him assuming he promises not to turn Pacman jones on us. And if this resulted in getting rid of Hughes, then all the better!

Actually, according to ESPN's trade machine, Hughes for Randloph works straight up. Plus, I think Newble is actually a free agent now, is he not?

If a team is looking for an expiring contract, I think Wesley, Brown and Gibson are the only ones entering the final year of their contract this coming season. The Cavs aren't trading Gibson, probably not Brown, and Wesley only makes $1.75 million a year, so his contract has little impact in a trade.

I would honestly be all for Rashard Lewis...

He is still relatively young at 28 years old...He his an above average outside shooter and is a career 46% shooter from the field...

Now just hear me out for the main reason...If they could find a way to get him and LBJ to play together, I understand they are both SF's, but with Lewis at 6'10 and LBJ at 6'9 you are talking mismatch problems out the ass for other teams...

Then bring Sasha off the bench and play with one of them two, and it will also allow LBJ to get more rest as Sasha and Lewis could handle some scoring...A deal for him would need to include Hughes or then you have too many wing type players unless you keep Larry at the point, but then you have 3 guys that are wanting shots, but with Larry, Lewis, and LBJ you have one heck of a big back court...

The only thing is would Seattle want Hughes with Allen there, and they already have a PG in Ridinour, and will probably pick Durant in the draft...

I also wouldnt mind Richardson, but the only thing that I worry about unless we can get someone is PG with Larry gone...I know he is not your ideal PG, but we have problems there if he is not on this team...Boobie needs time off the ball, and if no Larry that means you either have LBJ playing point forward or you have Snow playing PG, and neither one of them is a good option...

Not sure if I like the Randolph thing unless we expect Andy to be gone, but then that means you are going to make Drew unhappy as he will be sitting behind Randolph, and also the deal would probably include Hughes and then you run into the problems as I mentioned above...

A piece like Rashard Lewis with a PG like Blake takes us up a level IMO...

I've read a couple little blips recently that Cleveland may be trying to BUY a spot in the draft... and a relatively high one...

I have no doubt we're looking to buy a pick, but I doubt it ends up being a high pick. I could see us getting Philly's second pick, but I don't see anyone above them looking to get rid of their picks. Phoenix is trying to get rid of the picks, but they're most likely going to keep their first one(unless they make a Marion/KG deal) and try and package their other two, and both of those are late in the first IIRC.

I would like to see us get a pick somewhere and get an NBA ready(i.e. advanced foreigner or college upperclassman) point guard.

There are 3 solid PG's that could go in the 20 and after range and those are AC Law, Gabe Pruitt, Aaron Brooks, and Ramon Sessions, Bobby Brown...

I would love to have anyone of them...

There are also some solid PF/C prospects in the draft, but I think that PG is a bigger need unless of course we are planning on one in free agency or in a trade...

I think the best course of action would be to get a good PG(Steve Blake or another quality free agent or a NBA ready PG from the draft that cb40 mentioned). We'll have to deal with Sasha and Andy. I'm really curious to see what type of offers Andy gets. If someone goes really high for him, do we give up Sasha to have enough money, do we sign both are we going to leave ourselves with room to work with when it comes to signing FA or facilitating trades?

I think the two keys to this offseason will be what do we do when it comes to the draft, and how much will Varejao get. Those questions dictate our offseason IMO. Either way, I think there's a good chance Sasha isn't back next season, which I don't really want to happen, but I think it might.

Couldn't agree with you more... Rashard Lewis and a solid PG would make the Cavs an explosive offensive team. With Lewis you have a long, versatile scorer who can hit that outside shot with more consistency than most of our guys now can. Like CB40 said, Lewis is still young and has his good years ahead of him. Also, he has played on a team with Ray Allen for the last few years, which is something that can't be discounted. He was the #2 scoring option most of the time to Allen so he would be used to that playing alongside LeBron. But really any of those guys that Ferry is looking into would help our team, especially if we can unload Hughes to get them.
