The Only Positive About Losing 3 Top Prospects Who At One Time Favored Your School
None of them are really at positions of desperate need. Only the Barksdale loss, assuming we don't get anymore DT verbals hurts our DL depth. For spacing purposes it would have been great to have Ben Martin and Anthony Davis, but it doesn't appear either would have contributed much next year. We already have at DE Vernon Gholston (Proven), Walter Dublin, Lawrence Wilson (Proven) and Ryan Williams to go with Solomon Thomas. We're a little thin at DT, but have Doug Worthington, Todd Denlinger, Nader Abdullah, Dexter Larrimore, and potentially Devon Still and Cameron Hayward. This does not even take into consideration Robert Rose and Alex Barrow who are more than capable of playing both postions. On the OL we probably don't have the depth we'd like, but we still will have Alex Boone, Steve Rehring, Kirk Barton (if he returns), Jon Skinner, Jim Cordle, Josh Kerr, Bryant Browning, Kyle Mitchum, Ben Person, and Evan Blankenship. Once again I'm sure we'd like more depth at DT and OL, but there is experience and talent at both positions. Hopefully, next year we can hit the home run with a great crop of OL prospects that are favoring OSU and then fill our gaps in the interior DL. These losses hurt, but with the talent we've amassed on the OL and DL I'm confident that it we'll be fine.
