2007 All American Football Teams

Actually, according to Sagarin, ND>Akron

I just love that they can even be compared (see avatar). I hate ND. I mean, don't get me wrong, I hate TSUN too, but I actually like to see scUM do when they're not playing tOSU. I love to see ND floundering... if the Irish and Flashes are on par, well that's just fine by me.

Thought I'd start a thread to track the upcoming AA teams as they're announced. Couldn't find another one, but if there is...merge away.

2007 AFCA All American Team announced. Laurinitis and Barton make first team. The weak, slow Big Ten leads all conferences with 5 selections. The SEC could only manage two (same as the WAC), but that's undoubtedly because their players are so banged up from the intense competition.

Barton, Laurinaitis Named To AFCA All-America Team - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

I don't like the guy, but I would say that Tebow probably deserves this more than Matt Ryan...

Agreed. Ryan probably didn't even deserve 3rd team (I think Daniel, White, Reesing, and Bradford are all more deserving).

I think some of those coaches may have already determined that they didn't want Tebow to be a 3-time AFCA All-Amercan. The only 3-time AFCA All-American (their selections only) was Herschel Walker. For those wondering, Laurinaitis was NOT first-team AFCA last year, so he can't get a third AFCA by coming back. He could still become tOSU's 8th 3-time All American, though, since he was named on other teams last year.

And according to 10 other computers, Akron>ND. Either way, that argument ain't really helping your claim that a single stat makes Crable a national-caliber player.
84 tackles....26.5 TFL (that's according to the official site)....7.5 sacks... 4 forced fumbles....it's more than a single stat. The aforementioned boneheaded plays are what keeps him from being named a first-teamer, but can you really think of many more obvious deserving candidates?

To steer this conversation slightly in a Charlottesville direction, both the AFCA and SI.com AA teams feature the following D-linemen: Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis, George Selvie. What I'm wondering is, will there be any legit AA selection anywhere that doesn't have those four? And when's the last time there was such an obvious single unit like that?
