Men's XC: Ohio State Finishes Fifth at NCAA Regionals

John Ealy led the Buckeyes with a sixth place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 30th-ranked Ohio State men's cross country team finished fifth Saturday at the 2007 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in Bloomington, Ind., improving four spots from its ninth place finish in 2006.
Ohio State turned in a combined score of 167, finishing behind Indiana (111), No 22 Notre Dame (76), No. 23 Michigan (68) and No. 4 Wisconsin (68).
The Buckeyes were paced by
John Ealy's sixth place finish with a time of 30:52.31. Ealy will now qualify for the NCAA Championships for a fourth-consecutive year.
Finishing second for the Buckeyes was junior
Jeff See, who came in 16th with a time of 31:18.83.
Taylor Candella finished 32nd (31:46.67) while
Alex Bailey and
Andy Arnio rounded out the scoring for the Buckeyes, finishing 56th and 57th, respectively.
Notre Dame's Patrick Smith finished first with a time of 30:22.44, 16 seconds ahead of second place finisher Matt Withrow from Wisconsin.
The official NCAA Championship selections will be announced Sunday.
