2006 Spring Game info/discussion

OK dammit, so is there a tailgate this year or not lol. Last year I came and brought my kick ass big lots hibachi grill only to be bitchslapped by the other guys grills.....and that weather....wow. It was fun chasing tents around the parking lot. I will be coming back this year, with my buddy from last year, so umm let's do it. I got a hibachi grill  and some of the best damn tasting hot dogs youve ever had lol.

I hope you bring alot more paper towels and newspaper to keep that hibachi going. I think you should also bring a bottle of vodka to pour on the hibachi to really keep the fire going :biggrin:

Trslfan not all of us can have the Ted Ginn, mercedes benz of grills. I am surprised your grill didnt seat everyone, serve us drinks, and sing a couple songs or do some stand up. Hopefully the weather is a lot better this year. If we get this goin, you can count on me for some burgers, dogs, and a couple cases of sweet natty light. Did i say natty light...i meant diet pepsi.

Oh and if i bring the hibachi....i will be bringing 4 gallons of lighter fluid. Or gasoline

Purchased and printed my tickets last week. I'll be there for sure!

Believe it or not, I've never had my own tailgate on campus. I plan on having one this year. :) How tight are they on alcohol? In the past it has been kind of an unwritten rule to keep it in a cup and don't act like a jackass and you'll be fine. Thoughts?

What is "allowed" vs. what is possible are probably two different things in this case.
very true... technically I was not allowed to use a 70-200 lens (which is hardly small, tedward... it's not the monstrous $3-10K variety, but it stands out), but I got it past the gates for two OSU games. I sat in AA for one game (thx to deety), and the usher let it slide provided I did not use the monopod.

Spring Game Draft

If I recall correctly, the coaches will try to divide up the Seniors as evenly as possible, then they will draft position by position.

This is always very interesting to be finding out what the players insight is as to who they most value at each position...so I was wondering if any of you would care to speculate how you think the draft will go (just for fun).

I'll start by throwing in a few of the obvious (in my mind at least, maybe some won't agree) picks:

Since Troy is a Senior (along with JZ @ QB), he will be picking otherwise I'd make him 1st pick, so instead I say you have to make Teddy Ginn #1 over-all and starting off the WR group...So TGII, then Gonzo, Robiskie, Dukes, Hartline...

Then if team 1 (whichever it may have been) got to choose pick #1 from WRs, I will guess Team #2 picks RBs and goes with man-child Chris Wells, followed by Maurice Wells, Eric Haw...

If my recollection isn't correct on the format, feel free to set me straight...otherwise anyone got their guesses how this year's draft may play out? Any of you have deeper access to the players and have any knowlege on any "surprise" picks?

Marcus Freeman has to go #1 from LBs...Malcolm Jenkins from CBs, but those two groups should be real fun to see how it shakes out.

Care to play? :osu:

I am not sure about Teddy being the number one pick.

If we were talking a real game I would say heck yeah, but Teddy is the type of player that isnt going to be on the field for the whole game in a game like this.

That is why I go with a stud like Beanie. They are going to get him a ton of carries in a game like situation. He has the most value in this draft.

On D I would say that a guy like Gholston or Wilson is going to be valuable, especially if you are the team with JRich, b/c then you are going to be able to rush a 2nd string tackle from the outside and that is going to be disruptive. If we go position by position here is how I would draft.

QB - Robbie
RB - Wells
FB - Johnson
WR - Ginn(obvious, but if you go by what I said above, I might think about Robiske)
OT - Rehring or Boone, both even at this point.
OG - probably Person, unless they want Big Steve to play there.
C - Cordle or Whaley
DE - Gholston or Wilson(depending on his health)
DT - Denlinger
LB - Freeman
CB - Jenkins
S - Russell or JamO
K - Pretorious
P - Trapasso

I'd take Haw over Mo Wells any day of the week.

Maybe...but is that how the players will see it? Just from what I've read, it sounds like M. Wells is getting more carries with the 1st team at this point (with Pittman's absence) and I think that will color how the players value the RBs.

I'll take my shot at the LBs...D'Animal is a Senior and injured, and Kerr is a Senior as well:

So I'll say Freeman goes 1st, then Little Animal, Curtis Terry, Ross Homan, Spitler, Hoobler (though I admit I may only have Marcus correct and then anything could happen)
