2006 Scout Top 100 (Updated 1/23/06)

Friday I check and Rivals had our class #13, Scout had our class #10. At 7:50PM EST today I checked again looking for a big bump with the addition of Gibson and Small. Still at 13 on rivals, down to 11 on Scout. Go figure?

They adjust the rankings with lower frequency than they refresh the front page at scout. If they could run that ranking board like a stock ticker you would see the changes already - they don't. No-one today verballed to Penn State, 2 did for the Buckeyes. That gives us the same number of verbals, but with an overall higher average rating - adding 2 4* players should put us up above the Lions as best ranked team in the Big 10 - for now.

Of course Michigan has some room in its class and Penn Sate may have one or more to add to theirs - so keep watching that space.

I feel really good about landing 7 of the top 100 - regardless of how accurate the list may be.

But then I looked at USC. They have 11 and of the 21 remaining to commit - 12 mention USC. Thank God we still have to actually play the games.

Our star average just creeped up to 3.55 from 3.50. Michigan still has a star average of 3.56 with 16 listed commits. If Grant does commit, our average will edge up to 3.57.

Regardless of whether which team finishes with the higher star average, overall ranking, or whatever, I'll take our class over almost any other in the country.

If we can end with Grant and McDaniel, Peters, or any other 4 star we finish at 3.59 on Rivals and then a 3.64 on Scout. Even though our lower rated guys, IMHO, could easily be upped a star... that is a very solid average for any incoming class.

Very suprised to see that Joe Thomas is in there. Could be the want to hype up Pitt's class a little bit, we all know Bob has those affiliations with Pitt.

.

I disagree on Thomas. Been watching him for 3 years now and he made a huge leap as a senior. He is right there with Boren and Smith, and far more ready to step in and contribute in college than Smith. He moved from guard (played next to Boone) to tackle this year, and really excelled as the season progressed. In the Glenville playoff game, he OWNED Robert Rose. He had a better Senior year than Boone; More polished, loved getting to the 2nd level blocks whereas Boone would lock onto one guy and drive him into the ground. Better legs and flexibility than Boone, doesn't need to oil his knees. Physically, Thomas has the look of a college lineman already... Not the typical pudgy look of a HS senior.

Scout came out with the updated regional rankings today and Mark Johnson was #4 in the West, ahead of Konrad Reuland who is ahead of Mark in the National Top 100. Why? It always seems as though there is such dissenting opinions on Scout between their "experts".

I am not saying he isnt that good, I am just surpised that he is that high in the top 100.

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll stick it here:
Scout's #1 CB: Jai Eugene shocked everyone when he picked UM. Looks like he may be switching to LSU:

let the GBW meltdown begin

Oh God, please let this be true! :slappy:

Why would anybody want to go to a program that year in and year out fails to come anywhere near expectations, and that is coming off a humiliating loss to a mediocre Bill Callahan coached Nebraska team anyway? :lol:
