2006 NBA draft thoughts

no one is happier about Isiah in New York than me. I can't wait to see what Bill Simmons has to say about this. he will run that team so far into the ground it is unreal. I hope they don't win 30 games next year, which could happen if they don't make a move to get a guy like Saer. if I hear the words "the New York Knicks select Josh Boone" I may turn off the TV.

Bilas on Morrison: "I mean he couldn't guard a bank with a machine gun."

is anyone else missing Hubie Brown and his "tremendous upside potential" comments?

I agree with Simmons...Portland should frame Darius Miles and Zach Randolph for a liquor store robbery so they get the cap space. then they can spend some money to build a team around Thomas.

Don't you mean, around Aldridge?

The Cavs had the wrong Paxson. The Bulls are building a really good "team" - although I still can't believe they traded Brand for Chandler.

I'm convinced the Hawks don't want to be in Atlanta anymore.

Shelden Wlliams is a bona fide role player - that's all he's going to be. He'd be a solid bench player on a good team. On the Hawks, he'll be a 14-10 guy on a 13-win team.

6'9" is not big enough to play center in the NBA... unless, of course, you're a freak like Ben Wallace. Don't let the analysts fool you - Williams is not a power forward. He has no jumper.

I like what the Bulls are doing. They got the player they wanted, and will only have to pay him #4 money.

Brandon Roy is going to be the guy that some teams are going to regret they passed over.

edit - he just got picked #6 by Minny.

And somewhere, Kevin Garnett just got wood.

Rudy Gay whining has got to rate pretty high on Bill Simmons' unintentional comedy scale.

as does Stern's opening comments about the crowd being rowdy and then snatching his comments sheet off the podium. I almost pissed myself. there is no doubt that if I still lived in NYC I would be there right now.

I also like how Simmons pointed out that KG is about two losing streaks away from going on a three state killing spree...

agree with BB73 about the Bulls...

I hope KG likes Foye, or he may need some Viagra now.

Portland made another move, flipping 6 and 7 picks (that they had earlier acquired from Boston for Telfair, with others involved) with Minnesota.

So, despite what the ticker says...

Boston has Telfair and Theo Ratliff.
Portland has Brandon Roy, Lamarcus Aldridge, and Raef LeFrentz. (edit - and Dickau)
Minny has Foye.
Chicago will get Tyrus Thomas (edit - and Sefolosha, traded #16 to Philly for him).

Why is Marcus Williams dropping?

And somewhere Kevin Garnett is sitting naked in a tub with a razor blade to his wrist.

Nothing against Foye - I think he's a nice little player. But the comparisons to Dwyane Wade aren't close to valid. I didn't see Foye carrying his team like Wade did - or like Roy did.

Redick, if he can accept the role, could be the next Steve Kerr - but, uh... that's about it.
